It appears that all of the clips of their duet have been removed from YouTube by Fuse but for whatever reason, this video of Chris Martin's entire performance remains. The Stipe portion kicks it at around the 4:37 mark.

Pre-show interview with Stipe from Fuse.

"We were listening to the UNC radio (station) there and they were playing an R.E.M. song. I like R.E.M. fine, but at the end of it, the DJ says, 'Ya that was R.E.M., the sound of the new South'. I looked at my roommate and we said, Gawd, if that's the sound of the new South, I preferred it when it was on the skids. That's how we got the name."

Hear hear!  It is so good!  Michael said in the interview he has some version of stage fright, walk unafraid, absolutely.

If Michael really had stage freight R.E.M. would not have toured as much as they did.   That's what he was put on this earth to do.  He is one of the best entertainers alive.

Here's an article mentioning Michael helping to clean up Sandy's mess.

A few hours later, a Rockaways resident was overheard saying, “Michael Stipe just cleaned my basement!” The next day, Mr. Biesenbach and Madonna went door to door offering support and supplies.

"Stage freight" is a really good way to describe a cross between stage fright and Stipe's apparent weight gain.

Here's a clip of Chris Martin and Stipe performing "Losing My Religion" that hasn't been removed by Fuse yet.

From the interview, Chris Martin encouraged Michael to get up there and sing which is awesome.   I don't think Michael looks that much different, go on and tell me I'm in denial, like I give a fck...

I wasn't paying any attention at all to Stipe's appearance but I did think he sounded shaky vocal-wise. Understandable since it's not something he does nearly as much anymore. I'm not really a fan of Chris Martin (or Coldplay) but I thought it was very cool of him to lend his talents to what is quite obviously a very worthy cause.

I was thinking the stage fright might have been a lack of confidence for some reason but maybe not given that he appeared so extroverted on stage with R.E.M.  Or maybe he just doesn't want to sing anymore and the thought of it scares him now.  I bet many are glad he did though.

I didn't hear stage fright at all to be honest - but - I think it was abundantly clear from the performance, particularly from his body language, that he wasn't comfortable singing at the tempo Martin was playing at. He was basically rushed into the song whilst trying to say hello and then, rather than commanding the stage as he would normally, was having to keep in time with someone who seemed incapable of taking the hint (eye contact, little nods and overly-quick words etc).

I'm not really having a go at Martin tbh; he played it as most others probably would. But when you've performed that song as often as Michael has, you develop your own way of singing it. He was pushed out of that comfort zone a bit here.

As for the weight thing, sure he's looking a little more portly than he had been in recent years, but Michael always used to put on a little weight when not touring anyway. Bear in mind, he's a 50+ year old retired (sob) singer who no longer spends months at a time putting in heroically energetic performances on stage. In my mind he's the greatest performer ever and has well earned his new life of quietly pursuing his hobbies :) so as long as he's healthy and well, I think he's entitled to a few extra pieces of cheese :)

More than anything else, I'm very pleased to hear him sing again, which I honestly feared I never would. Good to see him supporting worthy causes even into retirement from singing :)
Give me a minute and I'll tell you the setup for the worst joke ever
