More info here.
"We were listening to the UNC radio (station) there and they were playing an R.E.M. song. I like R.E.M. fine, but at the end of it, the DJ says, 'Ya that was R.E.M., the sound of the new South'. I looked at my roommate and we said, Gawd, if that's the sound of the new South, I preferred it when it was on the skids. That's how we got the name."

I'm going to try and tune into this at work that is if the site isn't blocked.

For anyone that missed this, it's going to be available as a podcast on the Dave FM site later this evening.
**Edited to add:
Here's a link to the podcasts, they're broken up into 4 one hour files.

It was great to hear Mike on the radio yesterday. I loved when Bertis called and asked him what his favorite experience was over the years and gave him the 3 choices.

Johnny Hibbert from Hib-tone Records making a surprise appearance was a nice touch too. Kinda funny that it was also one of the tunes they played off of a laptop instead of vinyl.

I'm listening to the podcast. It's nice.

denn sonst wird es ganz bitterlich kalt.
Ja, die Flammen im Herzen sind durch nichts zu ersetzen."

I'd love to see him do this kind of thing more often. I'm not much of a fan of celebrity DJ's but he'd be perfect for a slot on Sirius/XM's 1st Wave channel.

I remeber seeing this back when it was first posted and trying to find it online. Alas it wasn't available.

I didn't have any trouble at all finding the podcasts but then again, I also listened live. I imagine they only kept them online for a limited time. You might try writing to Dave FM to see if they still have them archived somewhere. If I'm not mistaken, they were broken down into 4 one hour podcasts.
