It wasn't until today that I learned that the proper pronunciation of "Suess" is actually "Soice" or "Zoice", which rhymes with voice. By the way, today is Dr. Seuss' birthday.

"We were listening to the UNC radio (station) there and they were playing an R.E.M. song. I like R.E.M. fine, but at the end of it, the DJ says, 'Ya that was R.E.M., the sound of the new South'. I looked at my roommate and we said, Gawd, if that's the sound of the new South, I preferred it when it was on the skids. That's how we got the name."

They played "Sidewinder" on the radio today ;-) :-) !!!
[The "eu" seems like the german way of speaking it, although "Seuss" does not sound very german, but Theodor Seuss Geisel had a german father.
... There's a city in Germany called "Neuss" ;-) ....]

Did I read somewhere that that is why Michael laughs is because he was supposed to pronounce the proper way (as noted above), but, couldn't do it?

I think the story is that he could only say it with the "Z" sound and that it was actually pronounced with an "S" sound. I had never heard of the "zoice" thing until yesterday which is the German pronunciation.
