Michael hasn't really appeared much, if at all, with any of these of Peter's side projects previously. So it seems unlikely, but I guess you never know. Was that post/comment deleted?

Just in case you didn´t hear today in the morning at radium.mx Michael Stipes will be at Hotel California Todos Santos as one of Peter Buck´s friends and former REM bandmate to wrap up the Todos Santos Music Festival 2012. I have GREAT hopes I might see them perform live!
out of interest, how many nights has mike attended? and how many of those times has he participated on stage?

Interesting. Sounds reasonably legit.
Not sure about Mike. I think two nights were reported, the first when he arrived only halfway through the set, and then the next night when they played both Rockville and Superman I think.

Not sure if I can think of any others but didn't Stipe sit in with Peter when the Magnificent Seven Tour (or whatever it was called) hit Athens back in the 90s? I think he also appeared with Tired Pony last year.
"We were listening to the UNC radio (station) there and they were playing an R.E.M. song. I like R.E.M. fine, but at the end of it, the DJ says, 'Ya that was R.E.M., the sound of the new South'. I looked at my roommate and we said, Gawd, if that's the sound of the new South, I preferred it when it was on the skids. That's how we got the name."

Stipe has appeared with Buck side projects a handful of times (Magnificent Seven in 1997, Robyn Hitchcock in 2007, Tired Pony in 2010, to name a few). Neither outcome would surprise me.

There is no mention of Stipe in the official R.E.M. communique

Earlier I read on the Todos Santos Facebook page "don't expect an R.E.M. reunion".

Stipes. Why do some people always put the letter s on everything? LOL!
October 1st 2010 Michael sang the Good Book with Tired Pony in NYC. He did a great job and I'm glad I went. I wished TP would have done more shows.
Maybe he'll show up. It's a great cause. Michael should go sing to the kids how cute would that be.

According to this report in the Mexico press, Michael Stipe was within the audience that attended the final concert of Todos Santos.
http://peninsulardig...e-todos-santos/
From what I can understand it says that "three quarters of the audience" wanted to see them (R.E.M.) reunited.
It also says that Mike Mills was in the audience, so the three R.E.M. members attended but only one of them played.
Michael Stipe kept a low profile and that it wasn't easy to take a photograph of him, says the article.

Michael was there but did not perform. Mike was at the Robyn Hitchcock shows on January 12th and 13th but he and Linda and Steve left Todos Santos on the 14th.

You sure are keeping your tabs on these people.
Michael has been laying low these days, accept on tumblr. I do hope he changes his mind and sings something, anything soon.
