I thought it would be cool for those of us who follow Michael on tumblr to reblog here some of our favorite pictures and such that he posts on his page.

I like these recent ones a lot.

I don't care really. I think he's a pretty good photographer, and I appreciate his posts (which in my mind extend pretty far beyond pure photography in terms of artistic expressions). I'd like to think the dick pics are a bit of a 'sod off' to anyone lifting him to "amazing artist" heights... If so, I highly support him! :P

LOL!  I don't know how anyone can say they like the walk it back video. That photo above of him is cute. Whatever its supposed to be.  That artist has done a lot of sculptures like that.  Some look like Alien Monsters.

I don't know if everyone will like the pictures he posted last night of the close up of someone's manhood.  Those may be him, I'm not sure because they are too close to tell. Might be that ex of his Casey Spooner since there were other pics of that guy in the group.  Its safe to say that most people do not take nude photos of their Ex's.  Of course Michael is one of a kind.  Maybe Michael really needs to get his old band back together.

You mean you'll hold his dick aloft for him when he needs to take a piss? Could be heavy supporting it. Mind you don't hurt your back! Big meaty thing like that.

ETA-- if he's posting cock shots out of revenge at people who don't get his "art", that is pathetic and juvenile. Like frat boys mooning out of car windows, only more extreme.  I have no wish to see his knob ever again, and those that do want to have the screen grabs that were taken on the first go round of "pics of the many moods of my penis by Michael Stipe".
I think he's losing the plot, personally.

Is that the credit institutes being hanged, or a credit insitute branded gallow used to hang lousy economies?
I'd agree with the later, but the former would seem a bit like shooting the messenger... ;)

Accountability to these self-appointed messengers has come to dominate our political discourse at the expense of a far more nuanced and relevant discussion, so I disagree.

But is that their fault? If noone assigned any value to their classification, what role would they then play? How are they then self-appointed?

I guess I'm just pointing out the obvious that if indeed a country does get downgraded (with the negative consequences that follow) that's not the credit institutes' fault, it's the fault of the country in question (and, I guess, its earlier creditors who may have been too lenient).

Oh, my comment was suggesting fault, I don't really see the point of framing it as a matter of fault.

What I'm disagreeing with in your post is the idea that the credit agencies as simply a messenger.  They aren't simply messengers, they are players who have a vested interest.  Would you describe the mainstream news media as just a messenger?

This is certainly a side debate, but what do you view as these entities's vested interest?

As for the media, not really sure what the comparison is, but I don't blame the media for the negative effects reporting about Greece's economy may have on Greece's economy, so to speak.

As for the media, not really sure what the comparison is, but I don't blame the media for the negative effects reporting about Greece's economy may have on Greece's economy, so to speak.

The comparison I am making is that both the mainstream media and the ratings agencies are disseminators of information and they have a vested interest in promoting the value of that information.

They are not outside observers, they are not disinterested third parties, they make their profits by creating a market for information, and the way that market works compromises the independence of that information.

Again, apportioning blame or fault for the Greek economy is not why I posted.....I think that the art work invites interpretations beyond the two options in your post - ie:  hanging the lousy economy or hanging the messenger.   Seeing the gallows with those company names with the "corporations are people" guff ringing in my ears,  it made me ponder the individualisation of entities - your post about shooting the messenger is kinda interesting to me in that context, it makes them sound so benign - like the postman. heh.

I see your point (don't necessarily agree though...) It should perhaps be mentioned that the original photo posted JMS didn't have those names, so that's something Queen of Comedy added I guess. I seem to remember she(?) is Italian so thought it was a defense of her nation's economy and position in relation to those institutions.

lol.   thanks for the clarification, I didn't see the image on the site - ha.  I thought you were asking a rhetorical question, but I see now you were asking QoC directly.  So maybe she will clarify what she means with her artwork.  The idea of corporate versus individual accountability/punishment is still the first thing that struck me about that image.
