Now we have only one release left, and it's for fans only: the Christmas package 2011.
What would you like it to contain ?
What songs do you hope/expect to see on the tracklist ?
Here's my list:
- a mini-book of photos of the band (I'd like to have the complete Anton Corbijn set from CIN);
- a cd with one of the 2008 shows;
- outtakes from the last two albums
- a dvd with the Hansa sessions and the Collapse into now epk

In reality, I expect the only music on there will be instrumental left over bits from CIN, with maybe a bubblegum Christmassy kinda track or Mike singing a Cher song. Which is perfectly great lol. But I do not expect to hear Michael, so if we hear anything from him at all I will be exceptionally happy.
I like the idea of having the set of Corbjin photos from CIN. I'd quite like these on postcards or something, as I would like to frame them together. (I will probably do this one day anyway)

yeah a little book with some pics from the past would be nice, kinda like the 1999 and 2003 toour books they send out, and the 20 year aniversary booklet.
but since it's the last one it will be cool none the less. hope they go out with a bang!

my thoughts what can be included in the last Christmas package:
2CD with all christmas singles songs
audio message from Mike, Peter, Michael, Bill
DVD Hansa rehearsals
And my wish, that is almost impossible: live CD of the show from your city - depends on where you live and what was the nearest 2008 show to you

I wonder where the Hansa "show" will finally surface in it's entirity. I'm guessing that would be saved for a DVD release.

All wishing aside, the most logical assumption would be 2 live songs OR 2 sub-par rehearsal songs. Plus a calendar and card. I don't have high hopes of anything better. 15-20 years ago, they were giving pretty good pretty good studio outtakes, and then probably realized that they can't redistribute those songs elsewhere because they're intended to be exclusives for fan club members, with the only exception I can think of; Only In America.

I thought about asking David Bell when I met him last weekend, but figured that a) he wouldn't say, and
I wouldn't wanna know. I have avoided spoilers for almost all fan club singles so far, so...
It'll either be something right along the lines of ordinary, two songs on a CD, a x-mas track and something live. Or something pretty special with fan club history, reprints of stuff etc. Sadly I probably expect the former.
E-bow at Carniegie might be something they could put on there. Would be cool.

Having thought about this for a bit what I'd most like is a live version of Country Feedback.

Add me to the wish of seeing the studio version of "Staring Down..."

I like the idea of a compilation of all previous singles (which i believe is what the post-breakup Beatles did for their fanclub in 1970).
I also like the idea of the Hansa live stuff on a dvd.
It probably will be similar to the last few releases. That said, i did quite enjoy last years release with Christmas (Baby Please Come Home) and IHT->U->EDIYTW (dubmix). The dubmix in particular i thought was a neat piece of music and a good teaser for CiN.
Probably best not to get my hopes up too high.
Wouldn't the studio versions of Middle Distance and On the Fly be reserved for the box set?

They already released this awful song live back in '99. And then again in '03! Maybe they could issue an even worse song live again, like E-Bow the Letter, like they did back in '98!

I'm hoping for something from the studio, not a live song this time. A Christmas song or a song that suits the situation would be extra neat. A calender with pictures again would be lovely. As this is the end of the fan club, some kind of extra thanks to the fans would be lovely.
As for Corbijn pics, someone posted a link to a Warner press page recently, and it has a couple of Corbijn pics for download:

Thanks.
Could anyone post the lesser-known Corbijn photos from the CIN set (the ones which came with the itunes deluxe edition) ?

I have no idea what it'll be but since it's going to be the last ever holiday package from the fanclub I would expect it to be something out of the ordinary and extra special. At least I hope so.
"We were listening to the UNC radio (station) there and they were playing an R.E.M. song. I like R.E.M. fine, but at the end of it, the DJ says, 'Ya that was R.E.M., the sound of the new South'. I looked at my roommate and we said, Gawd, if that's the sound of the new South, I preferred it when it was on the skids. That's how we got the name."

The Dubmix was better than most of what ended up on the album in the end! haha.

Didn't remhq hint a while back that it would be something special? Or am I just making stuff up?
Anyway, I'd love to hear some studio release, maybe something that didn't make it on to CIN? There were some things on the videos they released whilst recording it that never appeared on the album, and they were great!
And for what it's worth, I also thought the dubmix was maybe better than what ended up on the album (though It Happened Today particularly turned out awesome in the end! I guess I just like the electric/Up style R.E.M. a lot
)

My wishes would be:
A final studio song (or two) with Berry/Buck/Mills/Stipe as a four piece with Mr. Berry on drums...(On The Fly and/or Staring Down... would be very cool )
Hanza footage on DVD...
or
A signed copy of Collapse into Now for everyone as a final "goodbye"... (yes, most of us own it already, but a few signatures on it would be a good finale...)

I'd rather hear something I've never heard before rather than studio versions of "On the Fly" and "Staring Down the Barrel of the Middle Distance". No, I've never heard the studio versions of those songs but I couldn't imagine them being that much different than the live versions I've heard.
