You can now listen to the full interview with Mike and Michael on NPR, which aired Nov. 16.

What I liked most was the way the guys complimented each other. Michael says he thinks Mike has a good enough voice to be a lead singer, and Mike says he can't picture Michael ever giving up music altogether because he has a "gift."

I also found it interesting when Michael said he's been running a lot because he's trying to re-create the adrenaline rush he used to get from performing.

There's already a thread for this here, complete with an update that includes the link. At the time I created the thread yesterday the story had yet to air so there was no link available at that time.
"We were listening to the UNC radio (station) there and they were playing an R.E.M. song. I like R.E.M. fine, but at the end of it, the DJ says, 'Ya that was R.E.M., the sound of the new South'. I looked at my roommate and we said, Gawd, if that's the sound of the new South, I preferred it when it was on the skids. That's how we got the name."
