Watch the Colbert Report tonight to see Michael singing a karaoke version of "Lean On Me" with Stephen Colbert & Brian Eno.
It all feels slightly sad, like those long stretches of dead-mill brickshells encrusting the Amtrak line in Virginia, the overgrown ruins of old factories so plaintive that it just makes you want to move to Athens, Georgia and start a band.

Is it too much to hope for that this results in Michael and Eno doing an album together?

Great, great acapella !! Thanks for the video.
It's the poison that it measures
Brings illuminating vision
It's the knowing with a wink
That we expect in Southern women
It's the wolf that knows which root to dig to save itself
It's the octopus that crawled back to the sea.

I didn't know Michael was going to be on and I just happened to be watching Colbert last night, so it was a pleasant surprise. Kind of a disappointment that the song was the three of them singing in unison. I could only hear Eno and Colbert's voices, not Michael. I'm glad, though, that Colbert promoted the new album and pointed out that R.E.M. was the first band ever to appear on his show.
By the way, this is starting to annoy me: Michael has worn the same clothes at every promotional appearance over the past 10 days or so. I can understand that when he's traveling overseas. But in New York? He lives there, for chrissakes. He could just go home and change.

lol Michael has been wearing the striped shirts for 4 years now. He obviously has multiples of his favorite clothes. So I'm sure they are clean. The man is one of a kind. I have to be honest I have dress pants on that I have had for a few years and I find myself wearing them once a week. Then again I'm poor compared to Mr. Stipe. I've always found it funny how many times we will see him in the same outfits.
My friend said he heard he'll be on Jimmy Fallon Wednesday the 16th. I wonder if Jimmy makes him smile with his eyes again. I'm pretty certain he wore the same outfit the last 2 times he was on Fallon(not counting last month's cameo) It's like Deja Vu over and over again.

Michael owns like 10 of everything he wears. He's like Steve Jobs (who owned 60 or so black turtle necks).

I guess he took a tip from Bono and created a personal "uniform" of sorts for public appearances. Though I wish Michael would not imitate Bono by wearing tinted glasses, as he did at several recent interviews. It's a crime to hide those beautiful blue eyes!

Michael's so cute when he's acting. I (personally) feel like a proud parent at a junior pageant.

I swear on my life I own those pants Michael has on and wear them every single weekend for "lounging" around the apartment. How cool is that?
I love Colbert's quick comment about Burma...."Come on, enough's enough...",okay, onto Michael...

Elton John wore tinted glasses before Bono or Michael and still does. Michael however did not have glasses on during Cobert.
Michael's facial expression here is classic.

Nice. Towards the end of it, Michael looked as though he might have appreciated a cushion!
