The Accelerate tour was my favorite of the five I've been lucky enough to see. I keep hoping that someone will make a concert film of it, but it looks like that's a pipe dream now. Any chance I'm wrong about that?

I don't think there is going to be anything apart from the Austin City Limits DVD that has been officially released, but there has been quite a lot of footage on TV, of promo shows (e.g. Milano, Rolling Stone; Paris, concert privé) and festival gigs (e.g. Werchter festival, Oxegen Festival, T in the Park, Rock en Seine, S.O.S. Festival), and the Athens Greece MTV show and Santiago show.

Personally rooting for the Up tour, maybe the coolest stage set I've ever seen.  I also want those Hansa sessions released.  I think fanfan is right, ACL is all you're getting of Accelerate but you never know with new distro channels, they may eventually just throw everything up for download.

If footage or a CD from the Accelerate tour is ever released, I hope to hell it's not a download.
"We were listening to the UNC radio (station) there and they were playing an R.E.M. song. I like R.E.M. fine, but at the end of it, the DJ says, 'Ya that was R.E.M., the sound of the new South'. I looked at my roommate and we said, Gawd, if that's the sound of the new South, I preferred it when it was on the skids. That's how we got the name."

Yeah, I have the ACL disc and the '08 holiday disc - at least that has Let Me In on it, which was a true highlight. I guess between the two of them I have most of the highlights, but it would be nice to get one more concert film.

The '99 tour is another good pick - that's probably the show I have the least memories of, for whatever reason. (I was at the Camden stop of that tour.)

I saw 5 of the last 6 nights of that tour including Camden.  Probably my least favorite of the 5 but it was a good show.  It was just so hot and i hate that venue.  Also, no real special song for me, pilgrimage was great but that was about it.  The night before at jones beach had e-bow with patti and my first nightswimming, the night after in holmdel had how the west was won, wolves and stand which was a blast.  Merriweather post had camera and foxboro had sad professor and RFE.  Loved that tour.

Sorry to take your thread OT.

I'm one of the folks that prefers a physical product with actual packaging.

Me too but that's just the way i see it going.  It will make distribution so much easier because you won't have to worry about selling enough units.

If they go the download only route with the archival material I won't be buying it.

I think I remember Michael commenting about the humidity there. You had all the downsides of being outside with none of the breeze. I could be making all of this up after 12 years.

I was quite pleased to get Cuyahoga at that show. And on the ferry ride from Philly they were playing Reckoning which set up a nice vibe.

No problem on the OT; "Tours I'd like to have a record of" is plenty on topic to me. :)

I wish Live would have been shot better.  It doesn't focus on the band playing.  I prefer the style of Tour Film or Road Movie.  And for some reason Live on the CD and the DVD cut out Animal. It was part of the original setlist.  It was cut out as if it was someone else's song and they didn't get permission to use it.

I don't think there will be any more DVD's released.  I also wonder if REMHQ will stay as an archived site and if the R.E.M. channel on youtube will stay.  It would suck if they take that from us too.

There's no way every cut that was played on the Around the Sun tour could have been included on R.E.M. Live so something had to hit the cutting room floor. As for more live CDs/DVDs, I wouldn't rule those out as I'm sure there's plenty of material left in the vaults to draw from as archival releases in the future. Just because a group dissolves that doesn't mean we've heard the last of them forever. Hendrix has been gone since 1970 and he's still putting out new records. I would imagine R.E.M. will be no different.

Let me know if you find it, I'd love to relive that one.

Since the 21st, I've listened to all 15 albums, both 2-disc best-ofs, Chronic Town, and a bunch of singles, plus I've watched When the Light Is Mine, Tourfilm, Perfect Circle, Live from Austin, and even R.E.M. Live, probably my least favorite performance record. I'm running out of things to indulge in. :)

Yeah, I found it, it was on my iPod......duh.  That's when you know you have too much stuff.  I can zip it up and put it out there but not sure when, I'm going to be pretty busy.  If i cant do it tomorrow, probably not for a week.  Will let you know.

As for your indulging, how about road movie, parallel, pop screen, this film is on and the rockpalast show?  That should keep you going.

The only other video collection I own is In View, so that will get a viewing. Never bought Road Movie but I'm thinking about tracking down a copy. I have Live at the Olympia and a recording of the Mann Center show from '08 on my PC; I need to re-install a FLAC player to get that going, so there's a project.
