also a song from monster called "experiments in terror" (with kim gordon?),
"it might hurt a bit" stipe w/tori amos from around that era... "lucky piece" was another monster/hifi tune, i think, though i dunno if it ever got lyrics.
wasnt there a song they supposedly recorded with pj harvey for around the sun? if my memory serves correctly, the band said they had recorded about 19 songs for ats... we got "magnetic north" and the accelerate version of "i'm gonna dj"..."on the fly" may come this era... what else is there?
a finished "kick the traces" would be cool. "hairshirt desert" was mentioned when ethan interviewed stipe in 2003 as being six minutes long..
--- quick, someone make a list!

Michael wrote the lyrics for lucky piece and when he finished Bill and Mike (who apparently wrote it) were a bit apathetic toward it. so lucky piece definitely has lyrics.
the ATS era track that you are refering to was recorded with john parish, not PJ Harvey.

Okay, so, do we have any idea who exactly will be "leaking" this next offering or what they're waiting for?
To bluemookie - myself & Analog are about to start work on the next release, we are not waiting on anything, I have a busy job in London, so takes a while to get everything sorted, be patient, the next release are straight from the masters.
Do you have any releases you want to share like we are doing?
Because the time for hoarding has past. Whether we like it or not, R.E.M. doesn't have the same relevance so putting out this stuff is not going to affect their credibility.
I haven't waited until they split to do this, it was the fact we now have the technology to ensure we can put out these in their best form that I was waiting for.

Well, not really on the same level, I did post a lyric sheet from the Chronic Town sessions that have never seen the light of day...
http://www.murmurs.c...__fromsearch__1
Audio wise, the cassette tape mixes, the Stephen Hague catapult recording and the murmur demos/alt mixes were my ace in the hole for nearly 20 years. Now that they're out, I'm not that special. I really don't have any other exclusive stuff. I have the 3/4" master for Wolves, Lower video, and before they released it on The Light Is Mine DVD, it was kinda rare. Now? Not so much. I mean, I have the Reckoning rough mixes, but they sound like 8th generation. Really poor quality. Same goes with Fables and Pageant rough mixes. Poor quality. Plus, they weren't exactly rare when I bought them at record shows some 20+ years ago.
How's about this. I can tell you what the cover of Radio Free Europe depicts. I don't think that information is widely circulated. I know, I know. It's not much, but when this little piece of trivia was laid on me, I felt kinda privileged to know just what was on that cover.

Hey Blue mookie,
You are so special in the fact you have given us new (old) music that has totally blown us away, with music we neven thought existed and you should be so proud of that, just like for me knowing that so many people are getting pleasure out of this stuff, that even rem are not interested in anymore.
So what is the cover of? - I thought it was of the fireplace in their old digs, the street escapes me....
I remember the last time i was in Athens going to the spot that they took the Murmur cover from, that was cool.
Re the Chronic town lyrics, Michael transcribed on the inner dust cover of a Chronic town EP for a friend the lyrics to Chronic Town & Ages Of You, as well as other members of the band writing a message and autgraphing it,
on your other posting I'll transcribe what he has written for you.

this is one of those threads i'm glad i stumbled upon. i love seeing this stuff surface after all of these years. my only contribution to collectors is finding the cassette recording of the sometimes disputed earliest rem show -the one that starts with baby i (the one where michael says "it's getting really hot in here". i found that appended to a cassette someone gave to me circa 1990
one thing i'd like for my collection is a really old flier from a 1980-1981 show.

Hi Brivs,
I haven't forgotten - I am really busy with various work projects, and Analog had a computer issue which I was waiting to commence once sorted.
I have already prepped for use the Warner Promos of the full and uncut Snap 1991 & Jools Holland 1998 shows (essentially straight from the masters), the Jools one since songs have been officially released, I don't want to put on DIME.
The main project Analog & I were working on, will take longer as some the stuff is in storage, but we will get that out eventually. I need a holiday!

I am so behind on this thread. Will those links with these demos still work to download the songs?

You mean the Cassette Set? Not sure what you're asking, but I assume you could just click the link in the first post and check.
I just did, and they work fine.

It means that to the extent anything contained in files published on that site is available commercially, you should make you only use these files for "evaluation" purposes and proceed to purchase the stuff. Whether this applies to these files, that's for you to decide. And whether the files will indeed "explode into a bloody mess" if not deleted within 24 hours, or not, that's for you to assess.
