Sonic Arboretum Debuts at MCA Chicago
Beginning today, Andrew Bird and Ian’ Schneller’s “Sonic Arboretum” will be on exhibit for the month of December at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Chicago. The installation of 72 horns playing site specific compositions is free to the public with general admission to the museum. Andrew will also be performing two "sonic events" on December 21 & 22 using the full array of horns on the museum’s 2nd floor atrium. Both events are now sold out. Bonnie Raitt's Slipstream is due in April. More on that from Rolling Stone here.
Looks like Van Halen's new record will be out on 2/27, at least according to the artwork included in this article. The first single (and video) should be out sometime this month.
A new Son Volt record is also in the works.
A Thin Lizzy box set is due in June that will be culled from over 150 previously unheard tapes. More on that here from The Belfast Telegraph.

I see U2's Songs of Ascent listed here but if I remember correctly Bono said in a recent interview that he wasn't sure if they'd be releasing any new material in 2012 and also pondered the future of U2 in general.

New Nanci Griffith album out on April 10th in the U.S., February 20th in the U.K.

The new Kathleen Edwards album, Voyageur (due January 17th) is being streamed by NPR as part of their First Listen series.
