Will this place still exist?

Anyway first for 2012 releases;

King Creosote’s new album, That Might Well Be It, Darling – released spring 2012 on Domino Records.

:D :D :D :D :P
It's better to be loved by the righteous few than to be liked by a lukewarm many.

Didn't realise King Creosote have a new album coming out. I'd start my list with that.[/left]

Editors' upcoming album and Wintersleep's new album, (the title should be True Colors)...
The Wintersleep's album could be released before the end of 2011 but there are no news about...
Their last Facebook post of september 17:
We have just finished the last mixing session for our new record! Can't wait for everyone to hear it! Really excited. :)

Hopefully R.E.M./WB puts the R.E.M. rarities boxset on the fast track and I can see that next year.  Honestly, that's what I'm really looking forward to next year.

It looks like Kathleen Edwards' new record, Voyageur, won't be released until January 2012. To tide us over, she has released a new 7" with two new tracks "Wapusk" b/w "Change the Sheets". To download them, click on the image below.

"We were listening to the UNC radio (station) there and they were playing an R.E.M. song. I like R.E.M. fine, but at the end of it, the DJ says, 'Ya that was R.E.M., the sound of the new South'. I looked at my roommate and we said, Gawd, if that's the sound of the new South, I preferred it when it was on the skids. That's how we got the name."

A very topical cut from the long awaited dB's reunion album which is due in 2012:

This song can also be downloaded from their website here.

**Edited to add: for some reason I'm unable to get these videos to embed in this post.

I heard that Ed O'Brien stated after the NYC Radiohead gig that they were working on a new album for 2012 and a proper tour, so looking forward to that.  Also I think new Atoms For Peace in 2012.

Not that I'll be buying it but Kiss will releasing their 20th album, Monster, in 2012.

This is a bit of surprise, I never would have thought Kiss would release a cover version of an entire R.E.M. album. I guess with the end of R.E.M., Kiss has decided to branch out and try to appeal to an audience demographic they have missed out on. If Sonic Youth is indeed done, I really look forward to the Kiss version of Dirty.

Someone said this will be the last Kiss record. I'll believe that when I see it... By the way, I was a huge fan when I was a teenager back in the 70s and the concert I saw on the Rock n' Roll Over tour in '76 was among the most spectacular I've ever seen but by the time they got around to the solo albums and "I Was Made For Loving You", I was pretty much done with them.

Heard a song from the next Mazzy Star record on KEXP earlier today. The album will be out sometime in 2012. To hear the new single (as well as the flip side), click on the image below.

Heh-he.  :-D

Every year I hope there will be something from the Dirty Three, but from the whisperings I kinda doubt there ever will be.

Sigur Ros are rumoured to be working on something with an emtirely different sound, that has me curious enough that I'll keep an ear out for news.  A tour is rumored too.

I'm really going to find something new on the local front.

A Stipe solo album. In fact it's just occured to me that I'm actualy quite glad R.E.M have split just because it's so exciting to see what Stipe does next...musically. I couldn't give a shit about his arty-farty photografy sheet. :D

Brings illuminating vision
It's the knowing with a wink
That we expect in Southern women
