Just checking in after a very long time to encourage anyone nearby to come hear me play all R.E.M. (and related) in a bar in Chicago next month. Videos too.

99.9% sure I'll be there for this one. I need it after this week of pure grief over their "retirement".

Long time no see and thanks for the heads up. Should be fun.
"We were listening to the UNC radio (station) there and they were playing an R.E.M. song. I like R.E.M. fine, but at the end of it, the DJ says, 'Ya that was R.E.M., the sound of the new South'. I looked at my roommate and we said, Gawd, if that's the sound of the new South, I preferred it when it was on the skids. That's how we got the name."

Sam! It's been a long time. Probably won't be able to make the trip, but let us know how it goes.
