So Hallelujah is 3:42 long.
It's the poison that it measures
Brings illuminating vision
It's the knowing with a wink
That we expect in Southern women
It's the wolf that knows which root to dig to save itself
It's the octopus that crawled back to the sea.

Really like the sound of A Month Of Saturdays. I was completely dreading the song judging by the information so far, but the preview suggests something that could fit on document.

I'm already loving the other two new songs and cannot wait to hear them in full!
Hallelujah it's some new R.E.M.!!!!

Only a few seconds.... however I love what I hear....but this is really the last new Song we will ever hear from them...... and that makes me sad
Me too! The same way they felt when Bill retired...
Yet so many thanks to our beloved R.E.M. for this last material! These sad feelings will pass but it's hard even after hearing these new songs--Michael's golden voice and lyrics and Peter and Mike's amazing and creative music! What a band!
If the wind were colors and if the air could speak...

(forgive me for bumping up an old discussion but i only now came across it
)
i'm very surprised about "Drive" not being included, more because its status among their major hits than my personal opinion. i'm also surprised about the absence of "E-Bow the Letter" and "Daysleeper"
from a more personal view i'd love to see in there:
Monster's "Bang and Blame" & "Strange Currencies"
Out of Time's "Near Wild Heaven"
Automatic's "Find the River"
Hi-Fi's "How the West Was Won and Where It Got Us"
Up's "Lotus"
Reveal's "I'll Take the Rain"
In Time's "Animal"
Around the Sun's "Aftermath" & "Electron Blue"
i am pleasantly surprised "New Test Leper" is included, since it wasn't a single (outside of germany anyway) and it is one of my very favorites.
and i also agree with a few of the exclusions ("All the Way to Reno", "Mine Smell Like Honey")

I suppose it's an interesting academic debate or w/e between hardcore fans but did anyone on here actually buy it apart from being a completist of the material releases? I just didn't take any notice of it barring the 3 new tracks. What's the point?

I love the three new songs, they're well worth the purchase in my opinion.
And I own two different promo copies of "part lies": a single disc version and
a 2-cd full tracklist (minus the three new songs) version, which has a white cd
and a black cd
