Sidewinder's awesome - I like it better than Drive. So there! :P
 I think I actually agree with CS on something.

The thing about the songs that we're talking about should be there doesn't take into account that the band has had to make a double album, in chronological order, that has to try and tick as many possible boxes as possible in terms of hits, band & fan favourites. This also has to be done while trying to show as good a snapshot as possible of the bands extremely varied repertoire, while in turn ensuring that the album flows and is well paced.  I think they've done a pretty darned good job to be honest.

Look forward to the new tracks.  Only question to ask, did Bill Berry play on any them?  Would be awesome if he did, but wouldn't be surprised either way.

Hallelujah? Seriously?  I hope that isn't a cover of the popular one called that.

Now it's only 3 songs.   I guess the 4 songs was a mistake.

Since Hallelujah is a finished CIN demo, it's not a cover.  Too bad it's only three songs, though . . . but better than the obligatory one or two!

 It's the newly released CS Classic ™ formulation. Tastes great, less filling. ... :D
I looked for it,
And I found it,
Miles Standish proud,
Congratulate me. ...

Answer me a question,
I can't itemize, I can't think clearly,
To me for reason it's not there,
I can't even rhyme ...

Can't wait to hear the new songs!  Something to look forward to in the near future.

Now my dilemma.  I want them to be great, I want to love them, as these are possibly the last original works we'll get from REM.
But if the songs are great, I'll be even sadder that REM is over,  knowing there will be no more from whence they came.

awwww I'm sad that it's only 3 new songs instead of 4.  I do think they should've put Drive on there, but it's not like I don't have Automatic to go listen to Drive whenever I want :)  Drive was the 4th R.E.M. song I ever heard.  I knew Stand, Losing My Religion, and Shiny Happy People before it, that was it.  I remember them saying on MTV "the new REM video will premiere this week" and watching it the day it premiered.  It's an important song of theirs IMO and I like it better than Sidewinder.  Also, how many casual fans are going to buy a 2 disc?  I thought about a couple of 17-18 song lists, with room for one extra song, that would make a good one disc version.  I think they could've done both a one disc and a two disc version, the latter being for all of the big fans.  I think they are missing a big opportunity with that.  And even on the one disc, I would've included Drive.  Oh well, we will take what we can get :)  I am glad with three new songs, it's just when you think you are getting four, it's a bit of a letdown.

They MUST be great, I wish they are!

and even that they don't need to show anything to anyone I really HOPE the 1st Single "We all go back to where we belong" become a hit,  they deserve a last hit to be heared in Radio stations everywhere,   the last hit from them that get some worldwide radio was Bad Day.

They deseve to exit as the legends they became, leading the charts.

I don't have any doubt at all that this will be one of their best selling albums (probably #1 in Billboard)
"Halfway from coal, halfway to diamond"

How'd you hear the songs already?  What're your thoughts (contractual obligation songs or a nice way to end)?

They announce the greatest hits 5 days ago and yet someone heard the new songs already.  Whatever.

Read some more of MIke's interview in Rolling Stone.  He says, "He'll be sad that he will never play on the same stage as Peter and Michael again.  This band started as a live band before they made albums.  Why couldn't they end as a live band?  Here is a band that will break hearts, make people's lives harder(such as their staff)just to be original.  I thought these guys had bigger hearts.

Maybe my words are not fair, maybe I'm just angry with the band and eventually I won't feel this way.

So they should have stayed together if only to support the people who work in their offices?

there's another CiN outtake called "Badass". think there's a chance of getting it as a b-side of "We All Go Back to Where We Belong"?? is this one gonna be a proper single?

Possibly, Stipe couldn't finish the lyrics to that one during the CiN sessions, so he could have finished it months later. I'll have to get a copy of that single, though. :)
It's all here where I keep it, it's all in the yellow submarine, yellow submarine, yellow submarine...

I imagine that's why a  lot of people get into the music industry side: they're fans :)
