I was at the Atlanta show, June 21, 2008 and unaware it would be my last chance to see them. I am happy. It was a great weekend, friends came from all over. We went to AthFest, ate lunch at Weaver D's, got to meet some of you fine folks at Weaver D's and of course took the 95 mile pilgrimage from Athens to Atlanta to see the show. A great time which I will never forget.

Try remring.com. I know Eric had bandied about the idea of closing down that site several months ago but I hope he will keep it active as an archive for all of these live recordings he's amassed over the years. In passing, I must say that even though he and I didn't always see eye-to-eye here, he was the very first R.E.M. fan I even encountered online and that was before I even found Murmurs (or was at least active here).
"We were listening to the UNC radio (station) there and they were playing an R.E.M. song. I like R.E.M. fine, but at the end of it, the DJ says, 'Ya that was R.E.M., the sound of the new South'. I looked at my roommate and we said, Gawd, if that's the sound of the new South, I preferred it when it was on the skids. That's how we got the name."
