A while back there was a link to epidodes of David Liebe Hart's defunct TV show The Junior Christian Science Bible Lesson. Charlie Brooker did a good job flagging that lunacy up. Since then Liebe hart has been moved to Tim and Eric's Awesome show, but some of the old CSJBL stuff sometimes shows up on youtube.
This is fucked up. Enjoy!
That big puppet is scary as hell. It looks possessed by demons.

Sorry, probably just a stupid question, but what is the nature and purpose of religion?
Life and death?
Life and death?
Ahoy!

I'm one of those people who believe in God ( higher power, creator, whatever, the labels don't matter to me) but I dislike organized religion and don't subscribe to one.
I do think that many atheists are closed minded as people of devout faith can sometimes be. I can't prove God exists and they can't prove a higher power doesn't. Different strokes for different folks. Live and let live.

I think I remember seeing that on the Colbert Report. Maybe it's my Western upbringing or something, but that's even more disturbing than the first one.

Sorry, my question came out sounding more serious than I intended. Although I'm not a particularly religious person (at this time in my life), I can understand the attraction and beneficial aspects for a majority of people, especially when it comes to dealing with death.
However, some people just seem to be fucked up, or using it for personal gain. I think and hope this is just a minority.

the purpose? i guess it's to dream of a just government/king to rule over the righteous in this world or the next.

It keeps some people in line, and makes others put up with lives that are probably intolerable if not for the promise that the life after this one is all sweetness and light. The joke starts to become sick when you imagine those who lived in wealth and splendour in, say, Vatican City, telling this to the poor.
I don't really have a problem with religion (apart from it being dumb) until we get to this bit. People wasting and fighting through their lives, often in abject misery, just so they can make it to death where everything will be fine. But the sick fucks and their doctrine don't even give them the easy out of suicide. The point seems to be - suffer. And it's 'do as I say, don't do as I do'.
