I say Fables of the Reconstruction and I pronounce 9-9: nine nine...
There's also Swan Swan H... Is it right to say Swan Swan "Hu" like "hummingbird"?
I've read it somewhere...

Fables of the Reconstruction and nine to nine.
One for sorrow, Two for joy, Three for a girl, Four for a boy, Five for silver, Six for gold, Seven for a secret never to be told, Eight's a kiss, Nine's a wish,
And Ten is an evening ending in bliss.
And Ten is an evening ending in bliss.

A few years ago Stipe 'fessed up that it should have been "Swan Swan Hummingbird" all along.
"We were listening to the UNC radio (station) there and they were playing an R.E.M. song. I like R.E.M. fine, but at the end of it, the DJ says, 'Ya that was R.E.M., the sound of the new South'. I looked at my roommate and we said, Gawd, if that's the sound of the new South, I preferred it when it was on the skids. That's how we got the name."

Fables Of The Reconstruction. Always been confused about the 9-9 thing. For some reason I thought it was 9 yards.

Fables of the Reconstruction
Nine Nine
Swan Swan H (sound of the letter)
Oo-Berlin
Southern Central Rain
What about the hidden song on Green? When I ripped the CD it said "[Untitled Hidden Track]" but I prefer "The Eleventh Untitled Song" for tagging purposes.
One Million, A Million, or just Million for 1,000,000?

I don't really think this will help answer your question but this is from the Q & A Stipe did a few years ago on Matthew Perpetua's Pop Songs blog:
There is a song on Green called “untitled” what was your thoughts on a possible title at the time? Was there a working title for the eleventh untitled song from Green? I heard it was So awake, Volunteer. Any others?
at the time it was really cool to have unlisted, ‘hidden’ tracks for the fans, and that was ours. Its untitled because we just pretended like it didn’t exist. I really wrote it to my Mom and Dad, from the road. We basically toured the entire 1980’s and I didn’t see my family much.

I say "one million"....
"I wound up figuring out something that I had never been able to figure out before, which was: who am I after R.E.M.? I now know, and I’m OK with it. I’m just not a whole lot without them. I’ve got a nice voice and good cheekbones, but without those guys writing songs with me, I don’t know that anyone would ever hear what I have to say.” . . ---Michael Stipe

Maybe because it's the german 'Ü', which is pronounced like Stipe does, surely not with the 'You' sound.

Huh? The German Ü is certainly not pronounced "ooh" or "ouh" but like a Y is in the Nordic countries. It has no obvious similarity in English and many other languages. It's [ue] phonetically, similar in some way to the wovel sound in "pew" and like the "ue" in the French "rue". So I'd says it must either be "Überlin" like in German, or "Youberlin" from a alphabetical pronounciation in English. No "Ouhberlin", no matter what JMS says...

That's how I pronounce Überlin, the way the Germans do. Maybe it's because I studied German for five years at school, albeit some hundred years ago - or so it feels like...
