That's a great video of Rockville.
It was a great show last night. Those guys are quite the comedians up there. Scott is Hilarious. I was up at the front almost the entire show but needed some air. The stage was so small and you can lean on it. Mike taped down his own setlist and he knelt down and his face was inches away from mine. I wanted to say Hi to him but he left too quick. I got a lot of smiles from him so just as good.
I liked Mike's zipper up sneakers.
Scott said we were the best crowd of the tour so far. A Philly crowd for concerts is usually a good one. They probably could have had a bigger turn out at a bit of a bigger venue.
Rockville sounded really good for not technically being performed by R.E.M. I think Mike likes being a lead singer.
My roommate Cheryl took some amazing shots which we will post later.

Mills enjoyed my Everly Brothers shirt - http://a1.sphotos.ak...9_2424519_n.jpg
fun fact: there was another guy who looked a lot like Mike there. it was very confusing. LOL

Last time I was down Athens way for AthFest I noticed he had a doppelganger there too (I believe it was at Lunch Paper which I think is closed now). I've always wondered what was up with that. During one of my trips to Austin I noticed a Stevie Ray Vaughan wannabe at Antone's and at one of my local haunts back in the 80s there was a fella that used to dress like Rod Stewart. Do these folks think trying to dress up like someone famous is going to increase their chances of getting laid? It always struck me as weird more than anything.
"We were listening to the UNC radio (station) there and they were playing an R.E.M. song. I like R.E.M. fine, but at the end of it, the DJ says, 'Ya that was R.E.M., the sound of the new South'. I looked at my roommate and we said, Gawd, if that's the sound of the new South, I preferred it when it was on the skids. That's how we got the name."

I just saw the Baseball Project last night at RIBCO in Rock Island, IL. GREAT SHOW!!! I have a short video of Don't Go Back to Rockville I'll have to post once I'm not at work. It was totally surreal to be sitting next to Mike at the bar in my hometown shooting the sh*t before the show. I miss the days of small venues when you could mingle with the band. I think the show last night and getting to chit-chat with Mike may just be the highlight of my summer. The rest of it could suck and I don't think I'd care.
Here's a pic of Mike and I as well as one from the show. Not the greatest quality but hey, it works. I'll post more once I have time to tweak them.

Super casual music listeners. That's most of the people in the world. And you have to understand, that's why Top 40 radio exists. It's not there for people who seek out music and who love music.-Michael Stipe

If it was Athens, more than likely that was Troy Aubrey, Modern Skirts manager. They look a lot alike.
Judge not lest ye be judged, what a beautiful refrain.

I'm not sure who it was but they were going out of their way to look just like Mills. I've seen Modern Skirts up here (Raleigh) a time or two and didn't notice anyone with them that looked like Mills.

I love Mills' backing vocals and harmonies, but this is the second performance of Rockville on which I've heard him do lead and I just don't think it comes off that well. Basically, I think his voice is a bit thin to do the lead of this song, and I think that's pretty true of Mills doing lead vocals generally. But I'm perfectly happy to have the minority opinion on the matter.

Hmm. I know I have yet to post my video but I was rather impressed. I usually don't think he's very strong on lead either but he sure was last night. It was a nice "twist" on it to hear him sing Rockville.
