Okiee, every time i go to the front page my browser pops up with the super helpful bar that says, "Murmurs.com is in German. Would you like to translate it?"

The first four or so times it did this, I figured Google Chrome had gone insane since the site is clearly in English. And sod it all, I might need to clean out my computer because i got a virus that's attacking google chrome. That is until I figured out that the interview posted on the front page from the German magazine is in fact in German.

That's that mystery solved.

However, it seems that Chrome learns. After telling it that I don't want to translate the page from German five or so times, it added a new option: Never translate German.

So now i'm tempted to see if I can make it do that for every language so it will stop offering to translate everything for me.

Hehe, it's reassuring to know I'm not the only one who makes that kind of mistake.

For a week or so google wanted to translate murmurs from Hungarian for me.   I was pleasantly surprised by how similar Hungarian was to English so I just continued on in Hungarian.

I can't believe that out of 85 views the poll only got 4 votes. Murmurs, you are disappoint. I miss my old school tag threads dammit! (though the admins probably don't ;) )

yea, me and technology do not mix well. i'll be very happy when i eventually retire to my sheep farm because then i won't need things like cell phones that double as computers and i can talk to the sheep all day so Mal can sigh and say that i've finally gone fully insane.

Isn't that just the greatest thing? I've had whole conversations in Hungarian without realising it til much later.

Not very well. I've a smattering in several languages but only fluent in maybe three.

I just voted so perhaps that will quell some of your disappointment ;) My browser hasn't had issues but I use Firefox, not Chrome. That said, my Microsoft Word often changes its default language to French. Not sure why, I write in Spanish more often than I do in French, but English is my primary language. I think it's just taunting me.

I have been known to go off the grid for days or even weeks at a time, it's refreshing. Although I do have a "smart" phone and like its capabilities, especially when I'm traveling and don't want to carry multiple devices, I also don't feel compelled to answer it every time it rings. I don't want people to have the impression that I am available 24/7. Of course since I do travel a lot, I can also use the "sorry, didn't have a signal in my location" excuse for not immediately returning a call but that's not as good as an excuse as it used to be with those ugly cell towers cropping up everywhere.

Come Monday, it'll be all right...

Yay!!! Thank you :) I do have both browsers installed, but i've been using Chrome almost exclusively for the past six months because Firefox had a horrible habit of crashing on me when I was doing something important. Better half keeps yelling at me that the newest version of Firefox is awesome though. Microsoft Word doesn't switch languages on me, but i hate it still. I have no idea how to fix any setting in it so whenever I'd have to do anything in Tagalog it would show a sea of red.

I'm notorious for never answering my phone. I can usually get away with it without too many repercussions. Friends and family know it's a lost cause and i'll get back to them later. My boss is less understanding and will rip into me (he also insisted on giving me two of the three phones i have which just builds into me never wanting to answer any of them) but I can usually get around it by claiming I was in transit. I agree with you, the whole available 24/7 thing is not something I ever want to be. Though I do fancy being able to play fancy tetris on my smart phone.

Your better half is right in this case, the new Firefox is awesome. The old one had started crashing on me too, and taking up waaaaaay too much memory. I love the new one.

I love that I can play games, use GPS, send emails, surf the internet, etc. on my BlackBerry. I don't let my job have that phone number though. I was asked again recently to submit my mobile phone number and I declined. I'm not that kind of doctor and there's nothing I do, even with my current position as a part time administrator, that can't be covered by someone else when I'm away from campus. I also don't check work email on the weekend and I make sure that everyone knows that and not expect me to get back to them between Friday night and Monday morning. There must be a work/life balance and I seriously doubt anyone lies on their deathbed thinking "Damn! I should have gone to more meetings and answered more work email!"

Come Monday, it'll be all right...

With my usual speed and thoroughness, I voted "Get Firefox ya wanker!" without explanation.
