R.E.M. manager Bertis Downs and bassist Mike Mills have participated at a recent industry conference in Boston.
"Rethink Music" presented in association with the Berkman Center for Internet and Society, and the Harvard Business School, discussed the impact of new Internet technologies on the music industry.
Mills and Downs were invited to speak at a panel moderated by music promoter Ralph Jaccodine. Among other issues,
R.E.M. members discussed the early release of singles from Collapse into Now and the way digital technologies
are affecting the distribution of new music.
