I don't know how or why, but I was thouroughly amused by this. I'm not a fan of the grey beard/glasses look - I feel like when he shaves and doesn't have the glasses he looks about 20 years younger...this look makes me wanna put him in a nursing home.

But the rediculousness of the video made me lol a few times - and I actually mean that in a good way. Not one that I'd watch a ton of times, but it was entertaining on first watch.

The new hq youtube clip has, I think, the best quality sound of anything so far from the record! Well, the 1080p version does. I'm guessing it's something like 320kbps mp3.

It's great to hear all the backing vocals on the chorus so clearly. Considering this is a 'throwaway' song according to a lot of people (I might have thought that myself initially, but not now) there's plenty of layers going on during the chorus. Must be something like 6 or 7 subtle vocal tracks! Production-wise CiN is knocking the stuffing out of pretty much every album they've ever recorded! Though it's all down to what you want and what mood you're in. Like, you could say Monster has terrible production, but you'd be wrong because it's exactly how they meant it to be, therefore great. One of my favourite records too. ATS misses the mark, it's somehow too bland. I doubt they ever wanted to make a 'bland' record!!

Off topic, I listened to ATS on headphones the other day, while vacuum cleaning. It sounded great! Maybe that´s what was missing, vacuum cleaner in the background.......  :P

Another terrible REM video :(

Although i guess it's to be expected given the advanced stage of the band's career, and they're certainly not alone in this, i can't help but struggle to deal with how 'pedestrian' they are nowadays. *wanders off to listen to NAIHF in a darekened room*

Why's it so bad? What would have rather seen?
Tone here=curious, not sarcastic, btw :)

I have to admit that anything that is better than the Aftermath video, I now consider great. This one is like the best video ever by that standard.

Hasn't anyone considered that the people carrying him up the stairs aren't "supposed" to be there? They are all dressed in white, as I take it, to match the walls and be like those people in plays who carry around inanimate objects and/or people to make them look like they're floating when wires can't do the trick.

As for my opinion, I think it's a both fun and visually compelling video. I love the "choppy-ness" of it.

Also, I'm surprised no one has commented on the couple of hand-in-crotch shots in it. If there's supposed to be any hands, that is.  :P

I noticed that they are in white too, like they were "phantoms". Considering that I think that this video represents a nightmare, of course these people can't be "real". Anyway, despite the apparent "simplicity", this video is so acrobatic that these people must be professionals (they just don't carry a weight upstairs, but they make Michael rotate in a way that MUST be safe for him and them)

Michael should have avoided eating lunch before doing that no matter which way it was filmed.
It happened today.
