I've read on RemFan.it an interview with Peter that say....

Quote

Peter says that Collapse Into Now would be very funny to play live, but the band have toured a lot so far and they're not so sure they're gonna do it again.

I am very concerned that there will be a new tour, someone has some news on this ?????

Please give me good news!!  :(

I have to question any website that gets something so wrong ("funny"?) and then doesn't even include the entire quote. This is directly from the New Musical Express interview with Peter:

"I'd really like to do it, but we've toured a lot, so we'll see. What I will say is that when Eddie Vedder was listening to a playback of the album he said, 'This would be great to take on tour'. But we'll see."

Funny how some people have taken that quote as a good sign while others see it as a sign of impending doom. It's also important to remember this band hasn't toured behind every one of their albums before so I wouldn't get your hopes.
"We were listening to the UNC radio (station) there and they were playing an R.E.M. song. I like R.E.M. fine, but at the end of it, the DJ says, 'Ya that was R.E.M., the sound of the new South'. I looked at my roommate and we said, Gawd, if that's the sound of the new South, I preferred it when it was on the skids. That's how we got the name."

The albums out in less than 2 months, no word of a tour, I wouldn't hold your breathe. Though it wouldn't surprise me if they did some festival dates here and there. After all, festivals pay REALLY well

The new Baseball Project record is due on March 1st and there's no tour dates posted for them (at least the last time I checked) even though they've announced that they'll be touring extensively throughout 2011. Should we be concerned? (Audible gasp!!!!)

I would just like to add my voice as an R.E.M. fan in Canada who has traveled the country to see them live that I would obviously love to see them tour.  Please guys from what I have heard of this album we need to hear it live.  Love it.  First single is awesome.

Does Abstinence have a suitable venue?

Are you trying to say that, if there are some dates in Europe you are hoping to be in the area?

Peter may have said, "It would be fun to play the new songs live in concert".  (That's correct English)  :)

Maybe it's just me, but this appears to be a man who desperately needs to go on tour  -  SOON.
It all feels slightly sad, like those long stretches of dead-mill brickshells encrusting the Amtrak line in Virginia, the overgrown ruins of old factories so plaintive that it just makes you want to move to Athens, Georgia and start a band.

Yeah its time for a tour.  Michael seems like he'll do anything lately to amuse himself.  But I tell him if you're gonna pose nude.  Stop being a tease and a wuss and show it all.

There's not going to be a tour. I'm sure we'll get the story posted up here soon.

I am not an "assumption guy" but I can't help thinking that no tour would mean CIN is not their last album! There's no way in hell R.E.M. don't do a farewell tour  :(
Now let's hope for a festival appearance.

I for one can't imagine R.E.M. doing anything along the lines of a farewell tour. The Eagles would do that. R.E.M. wouldn't.

Either way, I cannot (don't want to) believe R.E.M. will never tour again  ;)
