Mine Smell Like Honey:
"Dig a hole
dig it deeper, deeper
Climb a Mountain
climb it steeper, steeper"...
does anyone get the following lyric?

Ethan, You were quoted as saying that you though Stipe gave on of his finest voacal performances, on one of the tracks. Have we heard it yet?
EIYTW and MAMBMBAI both sound like stipe is right at the top of his form.

That's from Matt Perpetua
And he's fairly accurate there. E-Bow crashing into Country Feedback, except I'd say it also was driven to the hospital in an ambulance powered by Belong.

And for those not privileged to be on a birth name basis with Mr Lee, that is Jackknife.
Thanks, 'cause I had no idea who the fuck he was talking about and didn't want to have my head bitten off by asking.
"We were listening to the UNC radio (station) there and they were playing an R.E.M. song. I like R.E.M. fine, but at the end of it, the DJ says, 'Ya that was R.E.M., the sound of the new South'. I looked at my roommate and we said, Gawd, if that's the sound of the new South, I preferred it when it was on the skids. That's how we got the name."

Yes I'm sure you're right ,Blue is the one that particularly stuck in my mind most after the first listen and the descriptions are spot on. its a real epic , and I'll only add that theres a nice touch on it that takes the record neatly full circle.
I also thought the production was excellent throughout , sparkling even ,so the knife sharpening for Lee/Garret/Jacknife or whatever may be premature .I'm so looking forward to hearing it all again as well as hearing all the negative posters dig a hole... and dig it deeper , deeper .

Why doesn't you tube allow me to view the trailer on my iPhone! Bloddy usage restrictions! Have to wait to listen again!

Interesting.
I have to say that "Every Day Is Yours To Win" touches the true spirit of R.E.M., what made them great a long while ago.
It's eerie to hear it.
"It Happened Today" in its entirety is also a very good song, the second half reminds me pretty much of Belong and this kind of "wall of sound" feel the layered up vocals create.
"Mine Smell Like Honey" and "Me, Marlon Brando, Marlon Brando and I" also arrive leaving a formidable impression.
Maybe discoverer will find its place in all of this.
I am holding out...

Looks and sounds great!
I see Mike and Peter swapped roles at around 1:11...
Any chance of Peter singing then, Ethan?

I also noticed that on EDIYTW, I remember Mike playing guitar(but Peter Keyboard) on Let Me In, and Peter playing Bass (but Mike Piano) on At my most Beautiful, but never remembered they completely swap their main superpower.

Recognizing that it's difficult to judge on the basis of extremely short clips, . . . Sounds promising!

Thunderoad how did you hear "Every Day Is Yours to Win" in it's entirety?
Agree with the comments though from what I heard.
New music is always good, but I often get overexcited if I mildly like a song. This is on another level! Bring it on

I'm most curious about Every Day Is Yours to Win & Marlon Brando. The other songs sound really great, but these two are the most intriguing. Really interested to find out where they go!

I have to say, i've been a member for almost 10 years (and visitor long before) on this messageboard & I haven't ever seen this much enthusiasm, excitement and positivity for R.E.M.
