Good idea. How about 'The PROlapsers'?

I can see the "umlauts", too. That means a changing in meaning from "You, Berlin" to "about Berlin".

It's a thrill to read this, too. What are their faces like and are they fans and what will our faces be like and   !

Can somebody translate this into german, please? That sounds mysterious, I'm   and thinking of a hidden track now  !

I Lori pledge my eternal soul to not listen to the new REM songs before the release of the next album, unless said songs are debuted via official non-internet media, such as Vh1, MTV or on my local radio station. If I do, I will be shamed amongst my fellow oath-takers and will not enjoy the new album nearly as much as they will.

If I DO listen to the new songs or accidentally come across sensitive information, I will refrain from sharing it with other members of the sacred Non-Revealing Collapse Into Now or whatever it may be called society, lest they become perturbed and dismantle me.

I pledge also to heed the wise words of our founder, Madloop as well as Jon Bon Jovi, and KEEP THE FAITH! I will also help others stay straight by informing them of breaches in security (spoilers on the news page or on the board) and by encouraging them with kind, caring, well-meaning remarks, compliments and/or criticisms regarding their decorum or lack of it.

I understand that by breaking any of the codes of my oath, I will be subject to whatever punishment my fellow oath-takers deem fit, cruel and unusual or not.

This, I, being of sound mind, hereby swear.

I kind of wish my first listen to this record was pure. It was a bit scattershot, literally listening as the songs were getting "printed" and finished. Plus some songs weren't ready.

But now that we're playing back for partners and such, its a thrill to see the looks on peoples faces on first listen.
The non collapsing collapsers?

I HOPE that we have something in the nature of the non-revealing Revealers on this record because its worth it. What would that be called this time?

That someone just pulled me up and out of cartoon quicksand.

Whenever I read the title "Walk It Back", I think of Neil Young. I have a good feeling about that song.
It's all here where I keep it, it's all in the yellow submarine, yellow submarine, yellow submarine...

The not-Nows?  The not-Collapsed-Waiters?  The non-Collapsed-Suspensers ("suspenders" obviously doesn't work)?  the not-Now-Collapsers?  The Now-Nothings? The The Not-Collapsing-Not-Nowers? The Not-Nowers?

Ha ha! Great memories. I was living in Prague and my roomie delighted in reading every bit of R.E.M. news and not telling me what it said. (OK, OK I sometimes made him do it so I could live vicariously through him!)

I suggest we call the group COLLAPSE INTO WOW. As in, we get the full force of the record upon first listen, and not a watered-down experience after having heard bits and pieces of all the songs.

My predictions:
01.Discoverer
Musically reminiscent of The Lifting, upbeat, fast and about space.
02. All The Best
Slow, like Country Feedback and E-bow, it’s a letter.
03. Uberlin
Mid-tempo, name does not appear in the song.
04. Oh My Heart
Slow, piano by Mills, think of the piano bits in Hollow Man
05. It Happened Today
Fast rock, energetic, like Accelerate
06. Every Day Is Yours To Win
Upbeat rocker, or the opposite.
07. Mine Smell Like Honey
A song of Stipe’s childhood.
08. Walk It Back
Mainly acoustic with great harmonies.
09. Alligator Aviator Autopilot Antimatter
End of the World style wordplay, but the words in the title do not appear in that sequence.
10. That Someone Is You
Mid-tempo, declaration of love, but with a bitter rejection
11. Me, Marlon Brando, Marlon Brando and I
Man on the Moon style salute to Marlon Brando
12. Blue
Slow, coping with depression and easing into being content.
It's all here where I keep it, it's all in the yellow submarine, yellow submarine, yellow submarine...

I take it that those posting predicitions have not read the reports containing descriptions of the songs, that All the Best is a rocker etc?

If they are going to keep quiet before the album in regard to sneak clips and it's out April then we've got a long silence coming. Tracklist is known too early.

All we have now is first single news and to hear/see the video

The band themselves may stay quiet in regard to the actual sound of the record but I'm sure the publicity machine will kick up in earnest before long. Again, has an actual release date been mentioned aside from "Spring of 2010"?
"We were listening to the UNC radio (station) there and they were playing an R.E.M. song. I like R.E.M. fine, but at the end of it, the DJ says, 'Ya that was R.E.M., the sound of the new South'. I looked at my roommate and we said, Gawd, if that's the sound of the new South, I preferred it when it was on the skids. That's how we got the name."

True. Well first day of Spring is 20th March. I forget how far in advance is the first single aired?

In this day and age I don't think there's any set rules anymore. Back when radio played a more important role, I'd say the single was usually released around a month in advance. Not that it compares to how R.E.M. does things but the Drive-By Truckers have a new album due in February and have already started heavily promoting it via the web.

I kind of wish they would have waited closer to the album release to give us song titles and waited a bit longer before talking about it to magazines.  I heard April is the release date.  I'm guessing maybe April 4th and 5th.  Their anniversary date would be really cool to release a new album but earlier would be better.
