Parken, Copenhagen on September 6, 2008. My first, and so far only, concert in a stadium too.

April 12, 1989. All I really remember is Stipe banging on a metal chair during World Leader Pretend, stripping down to bicycle shorts (and the crowd went wild). Oh, and he told everyone to be quiet for You Are the Everything and of course they did the opposite.

99 at Werchter Festival, Belgium. Thought it was late in their career. It appeared differently...

My first time was in 1995. They played a 3 night stand in Philadelphia at a place called The Spectrum which is sadly being torn down as I type this. I've seen them 27 times. Including The Vote For Change show, The Ga Music Hall of Fame and in 09 at the R.E.M. tribute show in NYC.

Milton Keynes Bowl 1995, I was about 18.
Belly were amazing in support (Mazzy Star and Blur were OK too).
I remember sipping warm beer hearing Undertow for the first time.
First and only show. I'm more of a record buyer than gig goer.

95 at the Sidney Myer Music Bowl in Melbourne. Great show! Berry gave up his drum kit for some American tennis dude who was competing at the Australian Open at the time.
That someone just pulled me up and out of cartoon quicksand.

My first gig was this one,not just of REM but ever. I was just 14. Blew my mind seeing the band I first heard of two years prior and knew on that night that I had just seen my favourite life changing band.

I read that there is political unrest and a civil war in Madagascar but I've seen the film 6 times and there isn't.

I had no idea who they were until a mate of mine who worked at Hanes Mall recommended two EP's for me to buy, one was by a band called, "Secret Service", the other was by a band called, "R.E.M." ... the REM EP was a dollar or two more, but I bought it. He then told me, "Hey, it was recorded right here in Winston at Mitch Easter's!" It was only then I put two and two together. Mitch had all kinds of people go through the "Drive-In Studio", in the day, so it seemed the best value. Saw then a couple of times at Friday's over in Greensboro ... sadly, the last time I saw them live was at the Greek Theatre in Berkeley, July 20, 1985. I am still looking for a bootleg copy of that gig. There are certain things that happened during that gig that would mark it as the original item. Only the 4,555 souls at the show know for sure.

He said they were on fire and the crowd was absolutly crazy-gone-nuts........ He was gonna see them in '95 at Charlotte but he caught a stomach bug the day before the show.......
