[I've been thinking about a poll-possibility for a long time... ;-)]

When was your 1st R.E.M.-gig?

Another memorable day: 15 years after seeing them for the 1st time.
I noticed R.E.M. first in 1991 and was waiting until 1995 to see the band live in Germany. But then I had to give back my 1st R.E.M.-ticket, because the band had to delay their gigs to summer.

So it got to be July, 9th, 1995.
Spending the morning at the lake, the day was going to get hotter and hotter in Dueren near Cologne, next to that lake.
We had Belly, Oasis and the Cranberries (who were great) and finally R.E.M..

Mike was brought to hospital afterwards. The announced radiobroadcast was prohibited later.
I took the feeling home that they could do better. “I have to see them again … soon!”, I thought and went to Berlin in August…
The beginning of … several more concertvisits…

My analoge wide-angle photos looked like that:

Same here, Düren 1995 was the first time I saw R.E.M. :)

Honestly I remember more about the long journey in traffic jams than about the show. We were standing far away from the stage and it was hard to see anything except for the videos on the stage.

March 2005.  Would have been sooner, but moving to the far side of the world in 1998 kind of put the brakes on seeing them sooner!

May 17th, 2001 in Toronto.  A free outdoor show outside the Hard Rock Cafe at the corner of Yonge & Dundas Streets.  It was 4 days before my 11th birthday and I was out shopping with my parents!  We managed to find a good spot in the crowd to see the show, fairly close to the front.  It started raining a bit too!  There's some video of this concert online:

Wow, that's cool.

We were hoping they would open for the Police in Phoenix in 1983, but we got the Thompson Twins instead. Then we missed the Green tour in 1989 because our first child had been born just a few days earlier. We finally got to see them in 1995 after the Monster tour was rescheduled.

November 1985, Ames, Iowa.

All I remember about the show is that they performed with the stage mostly blacked out, and it was the most wasted crowd I have ever seen at any concert I have ever attended.  Other people who were there told me the same thing.
