Oh and btw, Etty, did your daughters ever spend any time in St Kilda, Melbourne? Because I stayed at a place not long after you posted some pics of your kids in aussieland, and there was some people there that looked just like 'em. It was very strange, and I think it would have been tres weird of me to just go up to them and say, "I think I saw you photos on the internet, is Etty yer Mum?", so I never said anything, but the photo you posted in this thread reminded me.
Rebekah, this is too weird. Yep Beesh and Lindsey certainly were in St Kilda. They stayed @ the Ritz Backpackers Hostel, above the pub that had a themed Neighbours night. So it probably was them you saw. You shoulda gone up to them!! They wouldn't have thought it weird at all, they think it's the coolest thing. It really IS a small world. They've asked me to ask you to post a pic.

Struggling to find a hat to suit the happy occasion....?

Um. Well, I think that look would only work with the beard, so that's my first get out clause.
Second get out clause, I don't want to be driven away from my daughter's wedding in a padded ambulance trying to convince 2 beefy guards I don't need to go to the nearest nuthouse..
GOC # 3 Only Stipey and Lady GaGa would consider that a hat. Thanks for the thought, though! :p
If I do decide to go in some bizarre get up can I borrow your freaky rock hopping shoes?
Those just scream "mother of the bride".

Nah, it must have been some Brits that looked like them, 'cause this was at a little guest house, they have private rooms, as well as backpacker style rooms...it was called the Olembia - it's a cool little place, a bit more laid back than the other backpacker accom. in St Kilda. I stay there when I drive over, cause it has free parking and a great little brekky place just around the corner. One day I will post a pic of myself, for sure*.
*this is a lie

oh the gorilla shoes would be awesome, they come in pink too, so I think a nice puffy pink taffeta dress with pink gorilla shoes and the lampshade hat would make for a rather fetching ensemble.
oh and if you image google "ugly pink taffeta" this pick and it's awesome photoshopping comes up :p:

I am going to contact UGG and ask if they have a bridal range and if not, why not. Nothing says summer wedding like sheepskin pile suede boots on all the laydeez!
LOL. this woman seems quite happy with her choice of the lavender Uggs for her wedding day:

OMG, I think I will forward this to Alicia and act as if it's a serious suggestion. Stay tuned!
mwahahaha! I'll give you 50 quid if you can convince her to get a dodgy perm like any of the poor women in that pic.

I'll double the 50 quid, if the whole bridal party gets that perm (fringes compulsory)
As for the Uggs, way more practical and comfy and warm than a ridiculously over-priced pair of impractical white court shoes that. despite good intentions of dying and wearing again, you never wear again! Having frequented a number of bridal forums last year, trainers and crazy coloured shoes for weddings are quite the in thing, as apart from going up steps and actally lifting your dress up - nobody sees your shoes!
Etty - you must join some bridal forums, you'll love it!!! MIL2B or MOB (mother in law to be, or mother of bride), there's a whole new world of acronyms waiting for you out there.
ho hum!

I'm just wondering how long those ladies spent perming their hair!

Eh??
Oh never mind, troll attack. We haven't had one of those in a while. I suppose it livens the place up a little.

I seem to be a bit late to the party, but big congratulations! Did you convince her that the horrid pink dresses were serious?

Not yet. I think I need to photoshop the blank heads before that can be in any way convincing. I'll have to find a way to put actual faces in, or she'll smell a rat.
Her engagement ring is due to be delivered to me at my house tomorrow, because she and her partner James work 9-5. If I survive my dance classes and have any spare energy I can try to doctor the hideous dress pic. And maybe google some other ones, as alternatives.
I am dying to see this ring. It's a solitaire sapphire surrounded by tiny diamonds in white gold. I've seen pics but nothing beats seeing the real thing.

I'm late to the party, but congratulations! I suppose you won't be kicking into high gear until next summer, but I look forward to hearing about all the planning madness. :)
