I didn't believe it when I read it today:

The next German Rolling Stone magazine - the 15th anniversary issue, released September 30, 2009 - comes with a jewelcased CD including exclusive and rare recordings by various artists like Adam Green - among those: an unreleased track by R.E.M. which is not gonna come out on any other compilation! (see attachement)

Enjoy!

Only the German edition? I hope it comes out in Canada too.
It's all here where I keep it, it's all in the yellow submarine, yellow submarine, yellow submarine...

I doubt it very much, as written it's a CD only for the 15th anniversary of Rolling Stone Germany.

Surely you're gonna get it via ebay or fans in Germany.

Thanks Ino for posting that. :)

I'm very curious what it will be, hopefully not another live song.

A REM and a Minus 5 song on one CD with further superb artists like Eddie Vedder & co is really great! Looking forward to this!

I talked to Peter last week and asked him about this.  He said he had no idea about any REM song being included on this compilation but, if there was one, it would definately be a live song, not any previously unreleased studio song because, "There wasn't any." He did say he and Scott [McCaughey] did go into the studio and recorded something exclusive as The Minus 5 for this compilation. There you have it.

For the record (as well all know) there are plenty.  Guess this is an indication of how he feels about them, though.  Shame, really . . . .

I'm surprised no other German fan shares the information about this release here, so here I go:

The Rolling Stone magazine is out for 3 days now - it includes a previously unreleased live version of "These Days" by R.E.M. and a song by MINUS 5 exclusively written for this issue of the magazine called ""All The Best (You German Rolling Stone)". Adam Green contributed an unreleased ballad.

More about the mag, the CD and its cover (in German) here:

Enjoy!

"These days" - pretty "clean" for a live-version, I mean no "3"-shouting and so on.
But, where is it from? No audible audience. The end is a bit fu - u - u - n.

"Little sister is REMinding you!"
