how much of that is the norm though? how many men and women with children actually have all that? i'd say the numbers are not near as big as you're making out. to have several computers and game systems for example is a luxury. especially in these trying times.

I see people many younger than I with blackberry's and Iphones all the time. Just about everyone has some sort of cell phone.  And to say that all gay people don't have children isn't true and to say that they all have money is also not true.   In America many people spend a thousand dollars on just one child for Christmas, which is insane but some do it.  That's all it's about here is material things.  And you don't have to own every piece of new technology to know about it.
As for Michael he can afford all the latest things because he is a rich man and we all made him that way.  And I'm sure he hasn't forgotten that.  ;)

I actually remember using a real car phone back in, hmm, 1971 I think it was.  As in a phone that was attached to the car.  Not sure of the technology but I was tres impressed.

i never used the word all.i wasn't talking about all people. just a sizable majority. and the same things can be said about single people or couples without kids of any sexuality. it's not inherent to just gay people. most single people or couples without kids tend to have more disposable income than those the who do have kids. sure, people spends thousands of dollars on kids for christmas. but how many of them can really afford it and how many of them are going broke spending that kind of money? cause i think kids are way more spoiled these days. i didn't know any kid growing up having a cell phone.

THANK you!  I totally agree.  I can see it for teenagers--Car trouble, etc., but in elementary school?    Um, no.  I had to take a cellphone away from a sixth-grader during choir this past year, and deal with a very mad mom when she had to come to school to pick it up.  :D

Teens who drive need cell phones, but the others all consider them a necessity for keeping in constant touch with their friends through texting.  Most kids at my school have nicer phones than I have.

My brother is almost 11 and some of his classmates have phones!  Even some kids who are younger than him!  I think it's ridiculous.  You're not supposed to have that kind of stuff in the school anyways - I never had to worry about that as there were no cell phones when I was in elementary school, but still.  It's an unnecessary distraction in the classroom, and again, there is no reason for kids to have their own phones.  I never had one and I survived!

That started earlier here - with private television channels making any attention span longer than 20 minutes non-existent.
