Well, it depends. Many Noo Yawkers are known for liking a drink. I suppose dodging vomit (Athens) seems less threatening than dodging fists and knives. *shrug*

Well Athens isn't the safest place on earth either.  The town has it's fair share of crime.  When I first visited Athens in 2000 my best friend and I were advised not to walk around the town alone at night.  And just two months ago in broad daylight people were dodging bullets when that Professor snapped.

oh, I see.  That's just good manners isn't it?  I mean circulating other people's email addresses [without their permission] is pretty poor form.  I've never heard it called BCC before.

Green groups are really bad at that sort of thing, I get really shitty with people that grab my address of another mailing list and start sending me their bloody 'Save the Whales' petitions.

Speaking of which, email petitions def. deserve a rant.

At the last Patti Smith concert I attended, this happened to me, but the woman in front of me didn't have "big, foofy hair," she had straight blonde hair, pulled into a ponytail. And I don't know whether she was oblivious, but she was very into the music and with each gyration would smack me in the face with her ponytail. I think it was during the song Ghandi, but I was so enraptured by the music, that it didn't really bother me.

I have naturally boofy hair which I often wear in a ponytail.  So I guess I'm a loser, destined to the back row at gigs.  Alas!

Here's a good rant topic he should have included (though I notice Michael doesn't have an office job so he probably doesn't get this...)

I can't stand people who request a "read receipt" every time they send you an email. These days most people seem to do it.

Everytime I get the "So and So has requested a read receipt" I just click the "no".

He's a very nice person, despite his foul language. Like Gordon Ramsay.  (Ok, that was sacrilege, let's take that back).

I guess Michael wouldn't mind me in front of him at a show because my hair is short.  :D

He'd be ok behind me - I'm so short he'd see right over my head anyway!

There ya go...my sister is clinically insane, as I suspected!   She is of the "if it's yellow let it mellow, if it's brown flush it down", school of water conservation...now she can do what she wants in her own home, but I wish she'd flush when she comes to my place.  In fact all my family are haphazard with the flush.  I think it's funny that I am the uber-conservationist in the family, but I really dislike my families non-flushing habits.  We have half-flush loos in Australia for such occasions, but they don't even use the half-flush.  freaks.

 I hate people not flushing! We have a half flush as well, and my daughter won't use it, just leaves the contents swirling!!!!!! And my son always uses the full flush!
*sigh*

Like when he told the audience on the MTV Uplink concert in 1998 to holler the word "fuck" during Radio Free Europe, and they did and it wound up getting in so the station couldn't edit it.  He thought that was the greatest thing.  :D

And he said the f word to me when I met him once.  :)

I wonder how long before we see Mr. Stipe on 'Grumpy Old Men' (TV show shown on the BBC in the UK, don't know where else).  Oh, and totally off topic, does anyone else think he is beginning to look like the late Sir Alec Guinness?

That pic with this article was taken in February or early March I think. Lately he has been sporting a moustache.  Not sure if he still has that or not, haven't seen any recent pics in a while.
