Is there any chance to get the pager back or any other form of instant communication? It was so great to have this ..

I don't know, but I have to chime in to say I loved the pager. It had an instant, ephemeral quality that no other means of communication here has. You had your 300 characters (or whatever) to make your observation or comment or witty double-entendre, and then it was gone, just like that, never to be seen again! Utterly charming and loads of fun.

Two things have to be considered:
First if there is a plugin like that available for the current version of vbulletin and second if Ethan thinks it is fine using it regarding performance reasons.
When I have some time I will look into it.

Wouldn't mind having the pager back. I liked it a lot. But it is understandable if its a resource hog on the server.

right now it is also an issue of having that feature as a plugin for the current version of the board software.
the old pager was compatible with an older version of the board. i don't like to just try it because it could mess up the database.
i look every now and then whether there is something interesting for this board version coming up as a plugin.

Actually the chat is still around, there just isn't a site link to it, so most people don't know it's here! http://www.murmurs.com/chat
The pager was cool too, I liked that feature. :)
