I really enjoyed my time here on Murmurs, since I started posting here in April, and I want to continue to do so.

I know that some people feel I've been overly opinionated, or they don't like the way my opinions have expressed. It seems I went down a wrong path with some of the stirring of the pot I've done, particularly with Obama. That said, I don't back away from my opinions at all - I merely admit that they could have been expressed better, or not at all.

However, I'd really like to turn over a new leaf, and as Donna suggested to me, make some friends here. Currently I'm finding that very difficult to do, based on some of the immature tagging that is going on with threads I post on.

It's very immature, nasty, and unnecessary. Please stop. It's ruining the Murmurs experience for me.

We are all fellow REM fans here. If you are unhappy with me, just talk to me and you'll find I'm not unreasonable. This bullshit that's going on is unnecessary, and I don't deserve it - for that matter no-one does.  Accordingly, I've complained to Admin about it, because it's bang out of order.

If you wanted to upset me, congratulations.  I've been reduced to tears here before, well done.  If you wouldn't treat me like this face to face, then don't gutlessly do it over the internet.  I have nothing against you, and I'd like to improve the relationship if we can.

Just thought of something else to add. I've been advised by at least one person to "ignore it". Well, I was trying to on Saturday, and now it's Thursday and it's gotten beyond a joke. The onus shouldn't be on me to ignore it, the onus is on the "pack mentality" bullies to stop.

Believe you me, it's not as if I haven't encountered similar behavour in high school - don't think I'll cop it sweet in my 30s. I don't care whether you (wrongly I might add) think someone is obnoxious, that doesn't give you the right to adopt a pack mentality and try and persecute someone. Even if the individual were obnoxious (which is just a synonym for being "different" with some people, let's face it), have you considered the obnoxiousness might come about as a result of your bald faced nastiness?

I was aware of a kid at high school who was persecuted daily at class by the other guys in school, who ended up in hospital with slashed wrists. Do the people who have been intentionally unpleasant, with a pack mentality, now feel good about themselves? Is this the desired outcome of their behaviour?

It's hard to beleive that the rock band we know and love, would support or condone such a philosophy. In fact, it seems to be the antithesis of what they stand for.

Exactly.

I take it you won't be joining me at the Accelerate show in Melbourne?

I'm not going to shut the fuck up if people are going to start attacking me, sorry.
And guess what? I'm not leaving. I think whoever is tagging things below is casting themselves in a very sorry light.

Whoever heard of someone chasing a gay man around a forum tagging "that's so gay" on his posts? It just makes this forum look like an intolerant place, which is unfair to all the well meaning members here.

I was going to PM you, but I really don't think it's worthwhile anymore.

You need to know when to stop typing, when to not press the Post button and when not to hype your own threads.  Your first post was fine - then, as has become par for the course for you, you replied to yourself as nobody else had in 40 minutes and your second post is like waving a red flag at a bull.  If you can't see this, well I give up!  This isn't like having a face to face conversation, you can review what you write, edit it or even delete it.

I also don't think being gay has anything to do with it.

Outside of this thread, that tag has been used twice, once was for the thread you started about a song called...'that's so gay',  the other time was for a thread about you being easily offended [hehem],  is this what you are describing as an attack?  or is it the fact that you've been tagged with manboobs 8 times?

well, duh...and the repetitive nature of your soapboxing is neither flattering to you, nor the cause you try to defend.

I agree that some of the tags are tasteless & offensive, but hey it's a free world & anyone's entitled to show their ignorance. Seriously, you need to know when to let go. That's rich coming from me & my little spat with Derek recently, but I've learnt my lesson. Take it gently & ignore the ignorance whenever you can.

It's been my experience here that if you change the way you post and just simply leave your old posts in the past, the community does allow you to move on. Seen it happen with many people.  I think that's a better strategy than posts like this.

Post intelligent posts in threads other than the ones where people are bugging you.  Talk about different topics and just literally move on.  If you are building relationships with other people in different threads, it will be a lot easier to ignore the crap.

Probably not, because the guys all love my chest. Why would that bother me when all I need to do is look in a mirror?

Oh, and, what cause would that be? You've already proven yourself to be hostile to that cause and pretending to support when it suits.

It's interesting that I've had a number of PMs in support of me and what I've said in this thread. Says it all really.

That's funny, because I discussed this with my mates at dinner, and they all thinks it smacks of homophobia.  But then, this forum has been called out for homophobia before by others.  Run a carbon black test on my jaw.

What comments of mine are you referring to that are hostile to that cause?  If it is proven, you should be able to tell me exactly what you are talking about with that comment.

That is interesting.  When you say it says it all, do you mean to suggest that a bunch of people agreeing on something therefore makes their position right?

lol

It's so obvious.

I simply told some friends that regular members kept tagging my posts with "u r so gay", and their attitude was: "how homophobic is that?"

The other common response was why was I wasting time on the forum in the first place instead of being on gaydar or summat.

Anyone who supports or condones people mocking me for being gay, by saying "u r so gay" in every thread I post, is supporting homophobia.  Ergo, unfriendly to gays.

How is someone tagging two or three threads saying that you are gay bagging you for it?  You are either gay or you aren't. I am not sure how someone saying that you are gay is actually hurting you.

Ignore it. It is good advice, really.
