We are going to change the name of our tag rugby team for the next league starting in September. Picking a name is something I've always hated. I could never come up with a good name for fantasy football teams.

Can anyone suggest a good name?

How about a bit of background? You know, where you are from, colour kit, previous monikers, etc.

Might help someone find a smart link?

Cheers

We are based in Dublin, Ireland.

We are just a group of friends rather than a team sponsored by a company. Most teams we play against belong to a company like Accenture or Smurfit etc...

Last season on astro turf we were good and finished 3rd. However, this season on the grass we have lost ALL our matches. Most were very close and we only got beaten heavily twice. Still it hasn't been a good season, although it is always fun.

We don't have a kit yet but for next season (six weeks time) we are going to get t-shirts. Probably all navy as that is what we try to wear. Some of us work for O2 and Ericsson both telecommunication companies - so our current name is the Telecommunists. I've no idea who thought of it but no one is owning up.

How about The Drunks, what being from Ireland and all.

I have been on football teams named The Goal-a-matics, The Atomic Fireballs, The Blown Gnus and the Funkbombs, so I know a little about team names.

Is tag rugby like 2-below football (American football)? How about flag football or drunken softball? We played fisketball in high school but that was a game we made up in gym class.

I don't feel very creative.

The best I could think of was Plastic Fantastic.

You could always use 'Ball O'Cake'.

Go to generatorland.com and go to the Fantasy Team Name generator and you will get a really zippy sounding name. I got The Fire Breathing Confused Geniuses.

Not sure what the rules are like in 2-below football. In tag rugby you wear two tags on your shorts held by velcro. When you have the ball the other team has to try get the tags off your shorts. When they do your team has to roll the ball and start the attack again.

After the opposition get the sixth tag you have to turnover the ball and defend. That is a basic overview.

I think we are going to go with either Sticky Fingers or Tag'n'Go

We are Ben's Babes. Ben picked it, he filled in the form. We care very little so it stays. Played this morning, lost 3-0. We play Sunday morning, and having a team of 20-something lads means we are always hung over. No one has yet thrown up on the field (at least for this season).

"Of course you liked early R.E.M. best," I want to say. "You were 17 years old and drunk on tequila and in love with a girl who didn't know you existed, and 'Harborcoat' summed up your melancholy mood like it was written just for you."

Our team's first name rhymes with "Tag", so there you go...

Touch (or tag) rugby is super-neat.  It's not so prevalent here in the southern states though, where it's all aerial ping pong AFL stuff.
