Really nice recording. My only gripe is that they didn't release the whole show. :(
Michael sounds much better here than he did on the Live record. There's a lot less of the yelling technique that had become so prevalent during the last tour and ruined many of the performances on the Live record. ("So fast so numb that you can't even......FEEEEEEEEEE-UUUUUULLLLLLLL!!!!" Ugh.)
Considering how easy it is to release live shows on iTunes, it would be nice to treat us to a few more live recordings from the current tour.

I agree with this completely, although I can see that's it's difficult to get the balance right. In a few places the shouting thing worked, the one he used to do at the end of the chorus of Man On The Moon was much better than the 'kewl' on the iTunes version.
Still, I think there's a danger of over-analysing this. I really enjoyed the record.

I was there. Shame there wasn't some of the in-between banter. But this show was made-for-iTunes.

been debating on whether to get this or not. i've read the reviews about the mix of the show being so-so. plus also, the guys were in a store, so....you're gonna get the sound quality, that you get. idk. still debating.

after a crap day preparing the house for a team of removal men to descend and pack it up tomorrow, i decided I needed a treat.
Glass of red wine, piece of dark chocolate and download Live in London. Decent speakers are disconnected but it sounds ok.

I only clicked thru the samples, it does sound a bit "different". I've been listening heavily to all the bootlegs, and honestly some of them are more... engaging? than this set. Sure they have that "recorded live from the audience" quality and some aren't the greatest, that's why I expected more from an official (soundboard) release.
I'll probably still pick it up... when I can remember my itunes password... hell for $7 why not.
My only question is, is it available on the itunes "plus" store? (256k, no DRM).

I just downloaded "iTunes Live: In London". Question: Does iTunes provide downloadable jewelbox artwork and/or liner notes for this REM CD? If so, I can't seem to find it, or I don't know how to download it. I went to the "get artwork" link after I downloaded the music, but nothing would come up, except for a picture in the lower, left-hand corner of the screen of what, I would guess, is the artwork for the CD jewelbox. I tried to cut-and-paste this picture to Microsoft Word, Roxio CD Creator, etc. and it wouldn't cut-and-paste. Help! Is there one of you folks who can walk me through the process, IF there is actual downloadable artwork for this! If not, I'll create my own jewelbox liner notes. Thanks ahead of time.

keep an eye on:

Usually some great stuff there...
But no 'official' cover sadly, the iTunes art is the usual bitmap/jpg thingy which is usually quite large ie 600x600, once you click on 'show artwprk' copy it and paste to desktop change to jpg and well you have a front cover at least eh!

Loaded in lovely DRM I'd guess... iTunes plus? no sadly the usual mediocre 128kps.
Having listened to it I'd probably not have released this, perhaps the RAH gig highlights would have been a better option or the MTV session but it's an iTunes tie-in so cest la vie I suppose...
The sound is pretty so-so to me, compared to the Milan bootleg which is great and which I got for nowt....

Figured as much. Unfortunately I do not buy anything from Apple with DRM in it.
