That first one is really funny. :D It was comical when Hez was running to make the timer on the camera. :p

Excellent pictures! Makes me wish that I had been able to make it out to Athens for the rest of the weekend.
And...yes...if you're trying to meet up with a bunch of online people at a crowded outdoor venue, it is advantageous to wear a distinctive black Cure hat.
My friend Brian enjoyed meeting all of you as well, by the way.

Nice pictures! Hez, I especially appreciate the one of the side of my head in The Grit - I was wondering how my hair looked from that angle.

Hello again. I posted about meeting you all in the other thread. So it was good to see all of you again. I like the pictures Heather Lynn took. And thankfullly I did make it home safely after all. It was fun in the ATL and the ATH. I look forward to the next time.

They are a really nice collections of snaps.
It was great to meet REM friends, both existing (you know that I mean 'old' as in friends that we have met before as opposed to aged) and new.
It was good to finally get to Athens. Probably 15 or 20 years later than would have been ideal; but still good.
All the best

I discovered I have a couple videos I shot in Atlanta 2008 that hadn't been shared, so I just put them on YouTube.

Thanks for sharing those. I have some not so fond memories of that concert, meaning the "pit" seating fiasco but some very fond ones of it as well. I do wish recordings from the Atlanta and Raleigh stops from that tour would finally surface someday. At least going by the Three collection that was released on Record Store Day, we know that the Raleigh concert (my favorite of the two) is in the R.E.M. vaults somewhere.
"We were listening to the UNC radio (station) there and they were playing an R.E.M. song. I like R.E.M. fine, but at the end of it, the DJ says, 'Ya that was R.E.M., the sound of the new South'. I looked at my roommate and we said, Gawd, if that's the sound of the new South, I preferred it when it was on the skids. That's how we got the name."
