Well we start at home (Watford), and finish at home (Sheffield Utd.)

Your quick off the mark with the thread Crystal Eagle. That last game might be a tough one if Palace are in desparate need of the points.

Man United start off against Newcastle at home, which isn't too bad. One good thing about their fixtures this season is that they play Liverpool, Arsenal and Chelski away all before Christmas. That means no away games against them in the run in, so that is good.

I'm skint, so there is nothing else to look forward to (my Dad paid for the 08/09 season ticket as my Christmas present last Christmas) no concerts, nothing :(

Looks like Ben Watson is jumping ship as well  well I hope the extra money is worth it!

So the Euro 2008 Finals are over now so it is time to start focusing on next season now and the transfer market speculation over the next few weeks.

Well Clinton Morrison is now out of contract and free to move on a Bosman.

Ben Watson has made it clear he intends to move, but he's still under contract so we can get a fee for him.

Mark Hudson has jumped ship to Charlton on a Bosman.

Several teams have apparently asked about Scott Flinders (or the more appropriate Flounders according to spellcheck) - hopefully we can get shot of him :D another one of Taylor's less than adequate signings!

The deal for Carle (Bristol City) is due to go through last night or today.

We're also supposed to be signing an Austrian defender.

When the players return to training tomorrow, several are due for discussions with Warnock.

The following isn't for the eyes of Shadrach :p :- Dougie wouldn't consider a return to Leeds on loan :) but if they decided to do it properly (i.e. permanent signing  ) he'd consider it  all depends on what Warnock sees his role as!

Warnock is looking for another forward to support target man James Scowcroft, he's looking at several midfielders, and if Flapper goes (fingers crossed :p) he'll need a second goalkeeper.

well, on the german side of things lukas podolski is apparently considering a move back home to cologne, after two extremely unsatisfactory seasons with bayern munich. good news altogether. it's not like i'm a fan of cologne, but it's always nice to see a player getting sick of bayern. :p also, cologne will need his abilites to stay securely in the first division, and they deserve to be there. now if only miro klose came to the same conclusion we'd really be sucking diesel in bremen... ;)

Well it looks like Warnock has found his new second goalkeeper, As the Southend goalie has been discussing terms and had a medical. I hope he understands that Warnock doesn't have a reserve keeper on the bench, so it'll just be the reserves for him. Surely Warnock has to keep the pony-tailed Argentinian in the team after his player-of-the-season winning performances.

A lot of activity already, Jo signing for City for £18m, a new record for the club..... Deco joins Chelski, could prove to be an inspired choice, he looked awesome in the Euros....

Liverpool's pursuit of Barry is sickening, and dragging on a bit, the fee wanted is well known so I just wish they'd meet it and put an end to it....

Still no sign of the Ronaldo saga coming to an end. Good to see that Fergie won't be signing a lot of players this summer, if we keep Ronaldo then we won't need many....

So the Aussie has signed a 4-year deal and the Austrian a 2-year one, that's if contracts are worth the paper they're written on nowadays

Apparently Ben Watson turned up on the 1st day of pre-season training, and Clinton Morrison didn't, he wants a London move so (or more likely his Mum wants a London move :p) it looks like Coleman will miss out on him up in Coventry.

Still no news on Flapper going, but still at least he's down to third choice now, at most :p

Well Dougies testimonial game is on the 29th of this month, perhaps there will be more news after that :(

After Morrison not turning up to pre-season training, Palace have now withdrawn the contract that was on offer so he'll be off, if he can find another club his Mum approves off :p

And A-P Robinson has done nothing to discount the impression that footballers aren't exactly the brightest members of society, by posting about his trial with Fulham on Facebook (or something similar) while under contract at Palace, he'd better hope that he impresses at the trial because Palace have let him go now!

Just wondering. Do you guys have season tickets? And how much are they setting you back? I myself have a season ticket for Dutch premier division side FC Groningen and it costs me 260 euros. These are the most expensive seats (cheapest are 173 euros). I'm quite satisfied with these prizes, I must say.

I'm not a season ticket holder unfortunately, I just can't afford to at the moment but go when I can. I'd definitely get one though at your prices, which is about £206.

The price for a Leeds United season ticket this year is so much more expensive than that, and that's for 3rd division football.
The cheapest this year is £470 and the most expensive £650. Which is ridiculous in my opinion. As a comparison, I've just checked on Manchester United site. Their cheapest is £475 and the most expensive is £836, which isn't too bad considering they are the European champions. But it does show how overpriced Leeds' tickets are.

Unfortunately, us Leeds fans are paying for the financial mistakes of previous owners and will be for some time until we get back to the premiership, which is a shame.

Those ticket prices in England (or Britain) are a direct consequence of the immense capital on the playing field (and what they earn). The salaries in England are so much higher than here in the Netherlands. As a result the best players in the world go there and therefore 3 of the 4 semifinalists in the Champions League were English.
It's the most entertaining league, perhaps the best. The disadvantageous point is that domestic players get no chance to get into the squad. I believe that that is one reason England didn't qualify for Euro 2008.

I've got a season ticket, have had one since the 1979/80 season  but over the past few seasons my Dad has paid for me as there is no way I could afford one, even though I qualify for a half-price one (on health grounds), I think it's around the £200 mark for the 2008/09 season. Place run a scheme where if you pay for a ticket for the following season by the end of the year you get a big discount, so my Dad paid for my 2008/09 ticket in December 2007. There is a sliding scale of discounts, the biggest being the December 31st deadline, with deadlines at the end of every month until the end of season when the full rate applies.

It can have great benefits in that Palace were struggling late last year, but then nearly got promotion come May. If they had gone up we'd have still got our Premiership season tickets for the discount rate paid last December.

The trouble comes when it comes to cup games, the prices of even a concession ticket for these games is often beyond me :(

You are right about the price of tickets being very high to pay for all the stars and it is at the detriment of the national side.

Events this week (for Palace) makes you wonder if it's worth investing in youth, when the big clubs can virtually steal a youngster that has been nurtured by another club.

When you see the prices being quoted for various players quite how the panel came up with a £700,000 valuation for Bostock. I just hope he rots in the Spurs reserves, and in years to come features in one of those what ever happened to........ articles

*end of rant* (for now! :p)

btw, i was thinking of setting up a murmurs fantasy football league.

I normally go for the one on

www.premierleague.com

It's free there, and you get a transfer a week, which keeps things interesting.

If enough people are up for it, i can set up a super league...

How not to do business:-

Summer 2007 manager (PT) signs a player for £250,000.

Summer 2008 manager (NW) sells player back to club he was bought from 12 months earlier for £100,000.

So the clear out of Taylor players continues!

Palace played their first pre-season friendly yesterday, against mighty ( ) Bromley! Result a 1-1 draw
