They're expecting 200 private jets from Russia at the Vienna airport today. That's insane.

I don't mind about the whole soccer thing :p But I was totally disappointed that Germany won against Turkey yesterday. I would have died to see my colleague bald :p
Yesterday I admit that it isn't impossible that Turkey will beat the germans and my colleague answered that he'll shave his hair (and he is really fond with it ;):p) when that will happen.  It didn't happen.

Alas, as predicted. Why couldn't Holland have done the job against Russia? Damn! Anyway, go Spain for the final (sorry Germans)

Effin' YES!
Holy shit that was brilliant :)
as for Holland, I guess the Russian coach, being dutch himself, knew the team of his home country very well.
Anyway, evviva Españaaaaaaa! *bounce*

oh, well... at least i can be happy russia got as far as they did (way more than most of us here expected), but they were definitely out of their league w/ spain. they couldn't get thru the defense, let alone shoot on goal.
but what made yesterday (and the rest of my life) great was our second daughter was born! so after a long day at the hospital, a russia win would've been the icing on the birthday cake, but alas...
now, i'l pull for germany.

congratulations, caleb! :)
looking forward to sunday now, it should be a beautiful game if a difficult one.
and the 3:2 on wednesday was so undserved. except for lahm's winning goal, our lads were running around like headless chickens. schweinsteiger's passing attempt in the 20th minute could have been bettered by my grandma.

spain looks better with their footwork and if the spanish guy on the left side is right footed why dont they move him to right side? he cant get a kick off near the goal unless he kicks it inside and its deterred spain to get another goal. lehman(sp?) the goalie needs to quit yelling profanities at his players and mind his own business. i dont speak german very well but i dont like what im hearing from this guy. i did hear one chant that sounded like the chanting indians in close encounters of the third kind. that would make the match even cool if aliens came during the penalty kicks.

So it's all over now and Spain are deserved champions. I thought the final was a pretty good match, certainly better than the disappointing semi-final between Spain and Russia.
I was disappointed slightly by the fact that Germany didn't play well and contribute more to the game. For a few minutes about half way through the second half it looked like Germany might have been getting on top but that faded pretty quickly. In the last ten minutes after they brought on Gomez you would expect them to try to batter down Spain. In that final ten minutes I don't think they had a shot on or off target. Very disappointing.
Still it was good to see the best team win.

Isn't this the first time Spain have won a major tournament? Certainly in recent times it is. Bravo Spain! :D

the last thing spain won was the european nations cup in 1964, so fair fucks to them, and they were the better team last night. still, shame, i'm getting bored with all the second and thirds we've collected since 1996, it's about time we won something again. my heart went out to schweini, he really seemed to have a miserable time of it.
not quite agreeing with your analysis, josey, for the first twenty minutes or so we actually looked like the better team, there were some very inspired moments there. then things unfortunately went downhill pretty fast, and of course it was the defence that killed us, like it had been doomed to do right from the start. bringing in kuranyi was the right decision i think, and yes, things did pick up for a bit with him, but i fear it was to late then. i think if he'd been there at the beginning of the second half we might have been able to equalise and push the game into extra time, or even regained the courage it would have taken for a 2:1. the lads were scared shitless, that was the problem. and it's now urgent time to restructure the back row, they've been there in that formation since 2006 and obviously need to be shaken awake.
okie sam - german goalies that don't burst a gut and yell profanities don't do their job right. :p (not to mention that it wasn't really that profane)

Fair enough Pete. But Holland haven't won anything big since 1988, and Germany have won two major comps since then.
And England...nowt since 1966 :(

and they only won 1966 because of a goal that wasn't in. sorry, but england are underachievers, always have been. fantastic league, sucky national side.
