To people who knocked the support bands..Imagine you  are young, have been invited to play with REM at the Royal Albert Hall (WOW!) . That's something to be immensely proud of and to be respected.. Hey that's the muso in me coming out lol

Michael

yes they must have been proud - saw Leila Moss's mum and dad in the stalls near us and they looked so proud and happy!  I thought Duke Spirit did really well.

Hi Amanda,

Fantastic - that's so cool!

An opportunity well deserved and to be remembered.  The band did great, the drummer looked relaxed, focused and tight.  I'd certainly be wathcing them with interest now and woudl go and see them play live when they headline..

The Duke Spirit certainly seemed happy enough to run over 6 minutes late... thanks - two less songs and 6 minutes less for REM.

Not sure that's really very fair - after all, REM didn't even fill their entire allocated time (they finished 10 minutes earlier than billed).  I think we got all that we were going to get.  I enjoyed all of the support bands actually - it'll be interesting to see who they get for the summer tour.  I wouldn't be surprised to see at least one of Foals or Duke Spirit crop up again as the first of two support bands.

Ok i havent gone through all 29 pages of this so i apologise if i repeat something already said..but I saw the band being interviewed by the odious (conceit?) zane lowe and when he asked how the band felt post gig
stipe said he felt he had been off for the night..maybe that prompted a shorter or revised set, who knows?

I wasnt there, would love to have been but I've seen REM live a good few times and they have never ONCE disappointed me, the mp3s of the gig are sounding amazing, i nearly prefer the versions of supernatural superserious
and definitely prefer final straw live!

so I feel bad for anyone felt let down but the strange nature of the gig and general fatigue mightve amounted to an average gig but i dont think they could play a bad one!
