Now are you sure it was vodka?:p Having had the same occurence, only with a tin in the back of my head, I'm still trying to convince myself that what spilt all down my back was beer.:(

Being hit by a can of piss would be quite ironic at rem concert if you think about it.

Deffo a vodka bottle.  Grants vodka! I was hit by cheap stuff!!!

Oh I have to say I don’t know many Scottish Neds who would throw alcohol away  if there was something in that can – they would be drinking it – sorry -  but I do know many who think – ill have a  pee in this here can and then – oh I don’t want to hold on to it.  If it’s any consolation the bottles REM has hurled at them in Loch Lomond were also not empty so your in good company (how totally disrespectful – made me slightly ashamed of my country)

Doing big outdoor gigs in the west of Scotland is a massive mistake unless you’re Oasis (and basically as thick as some of the crowd) for a band as sophisticated as REM – that crowd are not going to get it in a million years.  They should stick strictly to their fan base.  I feel not playing Edinburgh Castle was a definite error - ita ll set up already for the Tattoo at that time of year  – now that they would have loved

Well maybe it was Irn Bru.....

Edinburgh Castle instead on July 13 would've been amazing--and with leonard cohen appearing there on July 16 the seating etc would be in place.

But I have a feeling that there's a limit to the number of shows the Edinburgh City Council allows there in a year, or maybe I'm getting confused with Slane Castle? Either way REM's shows were announced well ahead of Cohen's so they could've bagged it first!!

Oh well, I guess T's better than nothing, I just feel sorry for all those folk outside Europe and N America.

I hope they play another date in Ireland.I;m going to see them at Oxegen but festivals are starting to take their toll on me!
I have a feeling that when the Point re-opens later this year in Dublin that they will come back and play there.
Ok it's just wishful thinking but you never know.Fingers crossed.

Hehe, never thought of it that way (cans of piss!), but still i'd rather not have had the experience! Now cheap vodka isn't so bad..at least it's only anti-freeze or something spilt down you (or was that cheap wine that had anti-freeze added?).

Oh we have plenty of chavs down here Su, i'm going to be ashamed of my home town (Southampton) in August. Well, i've been ashamed of it for years..but r.e.m. have never been here before (unless en-route to the IOW festival)

I was hoping that too but that didn't even cross my mind until i was reading HotPress and they mentioned the reopening of the point and said that a few large bands had already signed up to play at the point when its opens but they can't confirm who yet.

Well, it seems now that they're still touring late October now, so who knows?

Fingers crossed for you!

Livenation run the ticket sales for the Point now so there's a tangible link to REM.

Anyone know what the likelyhood of getting hold of T in the Park tickets is?

I quite fancy going.

I know many R.E.M. fans will be at T. I commend them. It would be great to see them in Scotia, but they could put me in the Ritz beforehand, and I wouldn't go. Just my own personal opinion. The Loch Lomond gig still sends cold shivers down my spine, and I don't think the ned factor would be diminished at T. I don't know if I could handle T, even with such accomodation.
