i'm sensing  a slight negative vibe  here......i tink........sarcasm off.

yup...i'm with  ya 1 date in Scotland and 1 in Ireland surely  cannot be.

REmhq  needs  to clarify several questions.

1: is this a  world  tour ?
2:why are pre-sales so badly run,  only 24 hrs notice advance warning of  when  they go on sale , small allocation for Rah gig.
3: why are  European gigs  added ad hock and not all at once.
4: will their  be  an in-door leg ?
5: why the delay in Us dates pre-sales when  the  Us dates  were announced ages  ago?
6: why emails for  pre-sales  are absent for a lot  of  members?
7:?
please add more questions..there are bound to  be plenty of  un-answered  questions.

IF and I think thats a big if  Scotland and Ireland get another show it wont be till September and announced after the Oxygen,  T in the Park weekend.  It might be to ensure maximum tickets sales for that event or they are leaving the announcement that weekend to ensure maximum publicity.  Perhaps they arent allowed to announce any shows due to the agreement with the Oxygen / TITP promoters.

What I dont get is the Southampton date.  Considering the London show is a massive show why do they feel the need to do another one relatively close by and lets behonest Southampton???  It's right up there with Hull with dates I wouldnt bother with on the last tour.

I, for one, am EXTREMELY happy with the Southampton date! :D

But I agree, the organisation has been abysmal. I haven't had a single email since the US dates were announced - all the info came from Murmurs.

Still, Twickers and Southers booked today - the stress is now off!

(That is, unless they decide to add a whole load more dates - and I agree that Scotland and Ireland have been left out in the cold, and as for the poor US fans, they must be going crazy wondering when the tickets will go on sale).

According to the website, T in the Park is sold out already with the exception oof luxury tickets et al. And Oxegen doesn't need REM to sell out, it will sell out no matter who headlines each night tbh, it always sells out.

I really don't think the majority of non-Scots and non-Irish people realise how awkward and expensive travel is from here. (if I see one more Londoner moan about poor TUBE access to the show I'll freak!) I suspect the same could be said of some parts of England though such as Plymouth or Hull, but at least driving to these venues is more feasible if you have transport.

London and Manchester are easily accessible by rail or air. Southampton is  served by FlyBe. But Cardiff? it's a lovely city but far more more awkward to get to from most parts than say birmingham.(I think!)

Ross I've a feeling you might be right--and there may be things going on behind the scenes we don't know about. An announcement after july may happen yet.

I agree wholeheartedly, and will argue my points later on as I have to head out shortly.

If this agreement is true then the organisers obviously don't look at sales from last year for Oxegen, it always sells out in minutes. It is the big thing that happens in Ireland each year, which is quite sad tbh, and T is already sold out so how would announcing further dates hinder sales? I'm at a loss as to why REM would agree to such a deal, really.

Living in London and being Scottish I see both sets of frustrations,  If you miss the tube from Twickenham it could take hours to get to north london on a Saturday night.   Get a taxi and I bet it would cost a similar amount to a flybe flight from Aberdeen

Mind you I've had one cancellation and one engine failure on Flybe so Im not to keen on them!

I've only been to Southampton once and have nothing against it but no real intention on going back.  I could fly to somewhere in Germany or Scandanvia for the same price of a train ticket from London to Southampton.

The issue of members not getting email notifications is unsatisfactory, I can understand. But aside from that, REMhq don't have to clarify ANY of the above.

Record labels have less control on tours these days and so they're probably touring more on their terms. Ireland got three shows on their last tour (which was pretty extensive), not to mention last year's 5 night residency. Scotland too got a couple of shows- maybe this year they fancy a more casual jaunt across Europe- and who could blame them? They must have just as many fans desperateto see them elsewhere- I feel sorry for those who have to travel from much further out.

As for the fanclub alocation of tickets, we should be grateful to get anything. Not many other bands offer their fans the chances to get 'front row' tickets early. Plus there is probably only so many tickets the tour promoter will allow the fanclub to make available.

Lastly- who knows if there will be an indoor leg? And if they choose not to announce it yet, then that's probably a wise financial decision. If REM announced they are playing Wembley Arena in November the same week they announce they're playing Twickenham Stadium, how many more fans will opt for the smaller arena over the stadium? If they announce this later, a lot of those fans with stadium tickets will want to see them closer, indoors as well. (I have no inside info that REM are playing Wembley in Nov. by the way).

In summary: REMhq have NOTHING to clarify
It's just because the way you are; I see you near, I see you far

I really feel sorry for you people from Ireland and Scotland, having to go to a festival to see the best band on earth. I hope they do do a winter leg, I would love some indoor shows in the winter. Has anybody tried e-mailing sandbag with those questions they may say stay tuned for Scotland and Ireland. Never know, I can't believe there are none announced, especially Ireland, we all know the band think of it as their second home.

Except the Nice date there are no dates in France, and except the Bilbao Festival show, no dates in Spain too...I mean, it's almost incredible they're not going to play in Paris...

At all this European tour seems very strange...

Good point, you would expect them to play in Paris, I mean they are doing Lyon, it is like them doing Southhampton and not doing London.

Och I don't know what to think anymore. Either they're keeping it quiet until after Oxygen and TitP or there just aren't any. Hope it's not the latter.:(

Two dates in both France and Spain btw.

Given the bands professed love for Ireland and Dublin in particular I find it astonshing that they're only playing one festival and/or signed an agreement not to publicise other scheduled dates til after this one tbh. And as I've said already, Oxegen is a guaranteed sell-out no matter who plays, it's a social event these days more so than a music festival.

Yes they will play 2 shows in France and 2 in Spain but one in both are festivals, so not a rally REM show!
And Nice is veeery near to Italy...I mean they can't be considered real French dates...and the same for Spain.
So you should consider the Oxegen and the TiTp...

Of course REM loves Ireland and we all know that...but I think the Dubliners can't be very disappointed about the dats, they saw REM playing 5 nights at home and REM will play around ireland several times...

I would say, it's crazy no one show in Dublin as no one in Paris...

Not the only ones, I think we can be very happy with the dates as well, at least I would have been if my boss had given me the days off that I wanted to have.
