P.S.  Kelly, maybe they'll hit Phoenix on the next go-round?

Denver and Phoenix are both about 450 miles away. I'd rather see them at Red Rocks.

REM is not an "arena" band in the US anymore, except for the largest markets.
Adding Modest Mouse to the bill will fill up most places.  As for overall popularity REM is better known, but doesnt mean they will sell a tour better.  Seeing shows ever since the green worldtour, thats just fine becuase smaller venues make for a far better concert experience.  The small shows on the ATS tour were by far and away the best concerts I've seen them do...Im hoping this fall bring the same......

I have a theory on why no NA tics are "officially" on sale yet.  I think they are waiting to get the Langerado Festival behind them before they start selling the remaining NA tics.  That festival is not yet sold out.  So, while I too am a little nervous, I have decided to wait until March 9th to go totally insane!

I don't mean to be rude, but if they're afraid of their level of popularity, maybe venues like Madison Square Garden and the United Center aren't the way to go...

If Depeche Mode can still sell out Madison Square Garden during their last tour, but R.E.M. can't, then we have issues...

As some have mentioned, maybe they just want to get a feel for how well Accelerate does and they'll be back for the fall, or could add some more dates inbetween the current ones.

I am hoping it's not a general election thing for them this time around. I mean, if Obama or Hillary can't wipe McCain away in November, then I'm giving up on the Democratic party for good.

As you say, my guess is they are trying to secure up MSG for NYC and then they'll make the onsale information annoucement.

I think Radio City would be a much better choice for them, but I guess we will see soon enough. I am just happy that they are actually playing on a WEEKEND in Long Island, NY and Boston. I will hit one of those shows - otherwise I would have had to miss this tour.

I agree, I doubt they'll hit MSG this time around. I'm thinking the Beacon Theatre, Radio City (which would be very cool), or the Theatre at MSG (smaller venue at the Garden).

I am hoping they don't play MSG this time, they did not sell it out the last 2 times they played there, there were a lot of empty seats. I am hoping they play a smaller place, Radio City would be cool but who knows.

I can't wait for the tickets to go on sale, any idea of the prices for Toronto, or Philly? I am trying to see 4 shows but I have to watch my money too...

It seems to me that R.E.M. has made a decision in North America to try to impress some people and they are taking two relatively great bands with them to do it.  Face it R.E.M. could not play these venues without the openers (especially Modest Mouse).  A considerable number of people at the shows will be there for Modest Mouse primarily and believe it or not some (not too many) will leave before R.E.M. plays. I watched a ton of people leave before Pixies at a Weezer/Pixies double bill and the Lollapalooza show in 1995 only had half of its audience when Sonic Youth played after Hole as a pile of younger fans had no interest in the older band.  Seems dumb to me, but it happened.

The show should impress though and clear the way for a return to smaller venues in the fall (October-December) and a ton of places not played in this first round. They could actually gain some attention and even some newer fans with a set that is a bit brash.  Good press and word of mouth would ensure a return.

A holdup on ticket sales could involve getting both fanclubs organized to offer seats, or issues with venues.  Besides the pre-sale should be announced this or next week if you go by the emails.

You kids...

If I get to go, I suppose I'll be driving to Atlanta in a few months. (Which, of course, means I'll have to take a side trip to Chapel Hill.) Can't believe I let my fanclub membership lapse...*kicks self in keister*

And yeah, like Kelly, we in Oklahoma are quite used to being ignored by R.E.M. At least we have Texass next door...I'm quite certain they will be included in this next round of dates. They always are.

The show is not listed on the Red Rocks website yet.  So no ticket news, fanclub or otherwise.  I'll be there in June.

They weren't on the 2004 tour.   Remember, we had to go to Nashville?

The Tweeter Centre show in Manfield is up on LiveNation.com.

http://www.livenatio.../eventId/317558

So $75 + fees for the best seats, not bad at all.

This probably means the shows will be going on general sale soon and pre-sale even sooner...

I'd have to say this is a very good price-- Lawn tickets are downright cheap.  Much better deal than the Police (who I think will have a tough time selling the real expensive tickets since they toured last year).  Tom Petty is comparable, but a tad more than REM.

Hope the "convenience (I laugh everytime I hear this) charges will not be too exhorbitant.

It will be at least $7 per ticket (in the fine print on the website) and then probably a $10 or $15 "processing fee" per order. I suspect at the end of the day: $85ish per ticket.

In this fan's eyes, worth every freak'n penny.
