Very odd! To be honest, aside from the fact that they're a bit of an odd couple, don't quite understand the objection!;)

I can definitely see the bus company's point--if they had to slam on the brakes and she went flying, she could get injured pretty easily if that leash yanked her neck.

Another news report I've seen says the Bus Driver told them that he didn't allow dogs and freaks on his bus!!!
Trouble is I bet they'd get the same treatment if they got on a bus in Hull. Some of the local bus drivers here have the customer care skills of an SS stormtrooper!!!!!:p

It's her decisiont o waer the leash, i'm not sure how they couldlegally tell her she sooudn't ride the bus, I mean if she had a neck brace on for whatever othe rreason, it still might cause her injury if they slammed on the brakes, but they'd have to let heron. i think the bus driver jsut didn't like the looks of them.

If I were injured because of a dumbass wearing a dog lead, I'd be pretty mad.

well it's slightly different, she would then hurt herself solely, with that leash, she could hurt OTHER PEOPLE, which is what I would care mostly about.

I don't know that your argument would hold up in court. It could be argued that people with umbrellas could impale other passengers with them, or any items not tied down could be considered dangerous projectiles if you want to get crazy. I don't think that is why the bus driver told them to get off.
On the other hand, why would a woman let a man lead her around in such a demeaning way in this day and age? Has she no self respect?
"Of course you liked early R.E.M. best," I want to say. "You were 17 years old and drunk on tequila and in love with a girl who didn't know you existed, and 'Harborcoat' summed up your melancholy mood like it was written just for you."

But if you were injured by a "normal" person, you'd be fine with it? I submit that you'd be upset whoever it was.
Some kind of singing. They sound like all kinds of people, right? And then it says another child is born in India every time you call this number, right? Does that make any sense to you?
And the guy that spoke--I don't know who he is. But that--it doesn't sound like no answering machine, right?

it depends how the "normal" person would injure me.... like carrying a stick, or by having some sort of hard purse/bag... I don't see myself (or anyone else) being strangled by a ... let's say.... leather jacket? a pair of chuck taylor???
The chances of you being strangled by 4 feet of chain during a bus accident is so minuscule as to be irrelevant, not to mention that it'd likely be the least of your concerns given that you were in a bus accident.
I will take the other side to say that if this lady truly wants to be treated like a dog (which seems to be her particular interest in life), she should adhere to the rules imposed on dogs, such as not getting on the bus.

In England, there was that cat who rode the bus all by himself.

Those Chuck Taylor are dangerous. just look at its laces.
I don't really think it's about how the goth chick would injure someone by wearing a dog leash, it's more like that leash getting stuck in between seats and stuff like that and she suing the bus company because their buses are not safe enough to allow people with dog leashes who might strangle themselves.
When it comes to losing money, people get all touchy and stuff.

You people have no sense of the Submissive lifestyle. It has nothing to do with her wanting to be like an actual DOG, but a part of her that wants to be owned, and cared for, and taken care of. LOL. besides, if he were sititng next to her, even holding her leash, how wold that manage to injure soeone else, and if they were so worried about injury duirng a supposed accident, then why aren'tthere seat belts and such on the bus. I truly beleive that was just a lame excuse for the driver ot liking those particular people because of their looks.

Well this is pretty obvious. But how are we supposed to make a bunch of snide comments out of his bigotry?

Personally, I think it's a downright stupid thing to do but it's their choice... well, more importantly it's her choice. You can definately see it being something that might be taken as offensive though. I'm generally of the opinion that the public doesn't have the right to not be offended. It's one of those things that really annoys me, where everything deemed to be offensive is sacrificed on the altar of political correctness.
However, a commercial enterprise serving the public does have to keep certain standards and allowing the couple on the bus could be seen as sexist statement. That's the real issue. It's akin to refusing someone wearing a swastika in that respect. Arrivia are being totally balless, blabbering on about safety when political correctness is almost certainly their agenda. What people should be debating is whether the couple are actually putting across a negative image of women that other bus passengers would find offensive, not safety.
Anyway, the driver seems like a total dick talking to them like that and if safety was ever an issue [which it wasn't], it would have been so easy for the driver to politely explain to them that the leash is dangerous and to remove it for the duration of the journey.

Although they are seeming to be totally outraged I bet secretly inside they're thrilled by all the fuss. You don't walk around like that because you're shy and retiring you do it for attention and that's just what they're getting. Apart from the fact that the bus driver'll get the sack and they'll probably net thousands on account of their hurt feelings wtf.
