Just a cover...no feeling one way or the other really.  Still can't get my head around how people can say that the cover reflects the music within....Is that what the cover of an album is supposed to do?

Maybe not always or even intentionally but to me the cover of Murmur definitely reflects what's within.
"We were listening to the UNC radio (station) there and they were playing an R.E.M. song. I like R.E.M. fine, but at the end of it, the DJ says, 'Ya that was R.E.M., the sound of the new South'. I looked at my roommate and we said, Gawd, if that's the sound of the new South, I preferred it when it was on the skids. That's how we got the name."

I'm with you.  And also for the NAIHF cover.

It's odd... It wasn't until this moment that I realized how creepy snuffleupagus really is...

Well when I was a kid...it was okay, 'cause he wasn't real...only that looney big bird could see him..and then one day I turn on the TV and they were all talking about and to snuffy...geez, wtf? it's enough to mess you up for life, seeing an entire community so quickly succumb to that garish birds manic delusions.

Can't say I've ever heard of Mahogany (though the albums do share a certain style) but I don't get the impression that R.E.M. ripped them off at all. The Mahogany cover reminds me of something more Monty Python-esque.

Not sure... I noticed that too, though, and also the building on the left that appears to have a pair of eyes looking out of it.

well snuffleupagus is well endowed so at least he has that going for him. as for the cover i quite like it. don't know why, but i am reminded of old r.e.m. and by that mean the r.e.m. i grew up on in the 80's. it definitely feels more like them than the last record cover.

actually, the first album artwork I thought of was Jimmy Cliff's "The Harder They Come" (http://upload.wikime...derTheyCome.jpg) with the crazy building angle and the blocked letters.  of course, both album covers are totally different, but I'm talking about the "feel" of the artwork.

Well, its seems pretty clear that the Accelerate cover already has caused more speculation and discussion that the ATS cover ever did (apart from everyone bashing it), and that some ten weeks before the Accelerate release...

I say the figure to the left is a character in an old gas mask. Either a type of chemical warfare protection mask, or a pilot's oxygene mask. Like this one:

Nice cover. Strong, black-and-white, distinct...

But i have a matter....i found this on wikipedia, but i don't want to post new topic. Maybe it's definitely some nonsense..

Look, it is in article about new album.
First single titles "Supernatural Superserious" will be released in mid february.[8]

I think it's one of their best covers ever though without the dots!
After Around the sun and Reveal it's the return to form in cd artwork!
