I am sorry to see Ken go. Great musician and nice person too. If you ever have the chance to see him live... do it. Ken and Joey were/are a bit responsible for bringing back the older songs in R.E.M.'s sets.

Sayonara, Kenny, nice knowing ya. RE: reasons for his 'departure' - was Stipe maybe feeling the hat was distracting from his pate?

bad news for all those who thought they'd never have to see Ken again. He will support the Northern Europe shows with his band The Disciplines.

I think this is nice that Ken is going to support R.E.M. :)

BTW, Carsten, I don't think many people here in this thread were so negative towards Ken that they wished they would never see him again. Most people seemed to appreciate him and his musical skills (as far as I remember).
