Virgin Radio got to hear the new album and it seems another new title has made an entrance:
Supernatural Superserious!

"We got to listen to a few tracks from REM's fourteenth studio album and it was really rather excellent.
While we haven't got any of the tracks for you to listen to, we can at least tell you the names of the songs we heard. So here goes..."
Living Well Is The Best Revenge
Man Sized Wreath
Supernatural Superserious
Hollow Man
Houston
Accelerate
Mr Richards
Until The Day Is Done
Horse To Water
Sing For The Submarine
I'm Gonna DJ

Staring Down the Barrell of a Middle Distance  (I liked that).
And it looks like its going to have:
I'm Gonna DJ
Mr Richards  Edit: :) its not as bad as i remember...and if it gets produced properly it could be good! Just make it sound RAW.

bugger on a sandwich, where is disguised?
Sounds pretty exciting though. I'd imagine virgin radio will be one of the first to premier the new single as the band have a really good relationship with them.

Whew, Houston is on there. I could do without I'm Gonna DJ, personally and yeah, where is disguised? I think the majority of fans would rather that than DJ

I'd rather have Stipe howling at the moon than D.J. This is exciting news though, that someone has actually heard the album. Now if they could get a release date for us, and some tour dates . . .

Disguised is one of my favourites... hope they'll include it! It seems that at the Virgin Radio haven't listened to all the record. Only few songs...

It sounds awesome to me, even with DJ. I do miss Staring Down The Barrel Of A Middle Distance, and I could do without DJ and Mr Richards (hope the band worked on it a bit more, it sounded incomplete in Dublin). But apart from that, the 'best Dublin songs' (I guess as voted by murmursians) are on there. No 'On The Fly', hopefully.
And I really hope it'll be a short album, with only 11 songs.
'It sounded really rather excellent' is a promising statement.

Michael is bound and determined to have DJ on the new album. I wonder if he is aware that the majority of the band's fans absolutely hate that song?
I am surprised that Staring Down the Barrel is not mentioned. Disguised didn't really seem to go anywhere when they played it in Dublin, so that one really is no shock to me.

If it's true that (the WONDERFUL) Disguised is really missing, I understand why the new album will be on the April's fool: THE WORST JOKE EVER!!!!!:mad::mad:

I think disguised will make it as virgin said they only heard some of the tracks and the location finder thing on remhq is called everybody here comes from somewhere, which is the opening line of disguised, so it would be a bit odd if it didnt make it. Plus its my fav new song so it has to be on the album lol

The minute R.E.M. leave a song off a record that they truly love because fans already think it's the worst song ever written is the day I lower my respect for them a little bit.

amen!
Supernatural Superserious sounds like a pretty sweet title, I'm imagining another hard rocking track maybe between the pop rock of Disguised and the intensity of Horse to Water. And I cannot wait to hear Sing For The Submarine...I just have a feeling it's going to be amazing (but that goes for the whole album haha).
and Man Sized Wreath made it!!!

I think we all knew DJ would make the record - just leave it off the playlist.....;)
.....and in 5 years time, dig out the cd, play the lot and realise (again) why you left it off in the first place.....:)

Did I say they should leave it off? No. I was just wondering aloud whether Michael was aware of how a majority of the fandom felt about the song.
I bet that the band doesn't love that 'song', Michael seems to be the one who is in love with it. Just speculation on my part, though.

I dunno, has anyone thought that maybe "Disguised" is "Supernatural Superserious?" The song was supposed to be about a seance gone wrong, wasn't it? So they may have changed the title! Either way it's really exciting and I hope that Disguised makes it no matter what it's called now. :D

I heard that some guys from Warner records already got their copy of the album, and reactions are fantastic!
To add my own personal wish to this thread: I definitely hope that 'On the fly' will make it to the record, i can't stop listening to it!!

That could definitely be the case. 'Disguised' seemed like a work in progress in the early stages during the live rehearsals.

Y'know, it's possible that one of those tracks is actually the song we know as Disguised but retitled. Didn't Michael say at one of the Dublin shows that they were thinking of calling it Ghost Lover or something? It didn't even have a chorus in Dublin so it could be that it's been retitled. Anyway, exciting stuff. Can't wait!

Yes, where is "On the Fly," which, in my own opinion, was the best new song played at the Dublin shows. And "SDTBOTMD" should not have been excised either. Maybe they decided not to list all of the songs for some reason in their article. One can only hope.
