Any infamous things that might or might not have happened that define Murmurs for you?
For a Morrissey-clubbin' good time, visit: http://froggyandwoodman.blogspot.com/ So indie, it's not even marketed outside Murmurs, sucka.

The whole "niblet" thing from 1999.

Sandi (cricketmachine) was in front of the stage at one of the R.E.M. shoes in Atlanta and grabbed a small piece of one of Stipe's shoes.   She posted pictures of the shoe "niblet" afterwards.

Just one of the many surreal and wacky things that define Murmurs.com for all of us, but that one sort of set a precedent.

Probably too many to list. Or at least too many forgotten.

Let us not forget the shirt lifting thread, Craig's recording of "I'm Not Over Moose", and the Stipe on stipeyes tapes floating throughout the internet.

I'll probably get booed and hissed at for saying this but the whole Bill Miller thing was just hysterical to me. Completely unforgettable. Also, all the Athens feak meets. Those were great *sigh*

I'm gonna go with Ethan's helmet.

And the KitKat Wars.

And MMWU.

Sorry, but the whole GWB/MU thing has got to go in there somewhere. Not that it defines Murmurs as a whole, but it was absolutely a defining moment, and one that has yet to be dealt with near as I can tell. Murmurs has always been about being able to hash out anything, for me anyway, so this one situation struck me as being sort of antithetical to the way of the Murmurs world. Just my impression.

And then there was...what was her name? Emily? The chick who faked her death, among other things? And the billion usernames? Or were those two separate people?

Ah the Kit-Kat Wars. Good times.

Emily and the girl a billion usernames were two different people.

The Mike Mills = Gimpty Teeth confusion was priceless.

As was the legend of Bill Miller.

Murmurs was at its best, when many used to go to the chat channel.Of course a few had to go in there and start some shit up(you know who you are...).Long ago, before I wondered here, chat channels used to be fairly cool, now it's all a/s/l...Depraved,deprived,demented individuals that are derogatory and desensitized to the 5% percent of the somewhat sane denizen's dropping in there.

Max Lewy <3 Cloud Strife was unbelievably fantastic.  A top-5 thread of all time.  Maybe my favorite thread of all time . . . too bad I never posted in it.  Actually, anything Max Lewy related was gold.  And as stated above, the shirt-lifting thread was great too.  And pipipipipipipi.

- Reapingwheel's inane posts (LOLZORZ!!!!!!11!11\1oneoneonehundredandone).
- The Foul Man Bill Berry.
- The hundred usernames of Eve (this was a bit before my time, but it's quite a remarkable tale).
- The poem that inspired Michael Stipe to write Reveal - I still remember a bit of it... your eyes, your eyes are like the sun....
- "Ethan has Shine!!".
- The 1001 Survivor Competitions.
- The (pretty much) yearly site re-designs.
- Best-of album lists appearing 4 months late (well, better late than ever - I'm looking at you, 2005).
- Party Central Bar (and most bars in general, but my heart's in that one).
- "That's it, I'm leaving Murmurs. Yes, I mean it this time!".
- Corpus' hair.
- Stupidus, who looking back was probably the precursor of emo kids.
- Anything involving the 2nd disc of In Time.
Gah, there are so many...

The origin of "feak", even though it's not used too much anymore, it's still a funny story.

If I could edit that post, I would also urge you to ignore Stipe and "throw your hands" into it. ;)

This site should come with a warning...Drunken murmuring can lead to you accidentally confessing your love for Matthew Wood. Damn.
