I am sorry I am late into this Kelly.

You and Donna have always shown a lot of support to me, sometimes when I didn't deserve it per se, and I really do appreciate it.

I hope a speedy and full recovery for your mother.

As you know, we had a similar experience recently and it scares the crap out of you. She sounds like a fighter though; your Mom.
It sure is scary. Did they ever figure out why that happened?

It looks like my mom is going to be okay. She woke up several times this afternoon, and had lucid and pertinent conversations (she asked if our girls had finished their Halloween costumes, for instance). She was surprised it was Tuesday. I'm fairly confident in a full recovery at this point.

I was a bit pissed off at the doctor this morning. She came in, tried to wake her up, said "well, we don't know what happened but we're going to try to wake her up so she can go." Then she left.

Donna and my father and I looked at each other and decided that was unacceptable. What were they going to do, send her home after 3 hours of steady blood pressure to take the same medication that might have caused this? Hell no.

I finally went next door to my cardiologist for the past 15 years and told her what was going on. She made a phone call and reassured me that other doctors would get involved. I was really impressed with her response time of about 1 minute after I walked into the office. I swear she's the only doctor I trust. I didn't know what else to do.

Anyway, I'm rambling. Must get sleep. Looks like everything is going to be okay. Thank you all for your well wishes. I just needed to express myself.

Sounds like things are going to be okay. That's good to hear. Do they have any clue what happened?

The day shift didn't seem to have any clue, but the fact that she's recovering would support the theory of hypertensive encephalopathy, according to my informal research until all hours of the morning. I'm leaning toward the cause being a recent change in blood pressure medication. She's kinda like me in that she reacts differently than everyone else to many medications.
