Does anybody have the "iTunes Originals" album available on iTunes? What's the difference on the "iTunes" versions of some of those songs? I'm trying to figure out if it's worth spending the money... thanks!

for only $10, you get 7 "Original" live reordings, plus interview clips.  The rest is songs taken from albums.  I ended up deleting the album songs and interview clips.  But I'd say its pretty well worth it!

Considering the length of this thing I have no idea how it ever got labeled as an "EP". It's well worth the investment though, many of the versions of the songs here completely outshine the ones on Around the Sun.
"We were listening to the UNC radio (station) there and they were playing an R.E.M. song. I like R.E.M. fine, but at the end of it, the DJ says, 'Ya that was R.E.M., the sound of the new South'. I looked at my roommate and we said, Gawd, if that's the sound of the new South, I preferred it when it was on the skids. That's how we got the name."

I've also got it. And I think it's great. Except for the version of I've Been High, which I don't like that much. It's very "machine like", I think.

Actually I prefer this version of I've Been High.  I think it was definitely a worthwhile buy - I always like to hear musicians talking about how they feel about their music/what they remember about making it.  I really enjoyed the sleeve notes for the second disc of the new comp. for that reason - you just get a better understanding of how they work.

The best thing about it for me is the version of Permanent Vacation; it doesn't have the same effect in studio as it does as a live track but a good rarity to have. In terms of the interviews, Michael talking about the origins of These Days is a good listen.

Man, now I wish I had saved the interview clips.  I didnt think at the time I deleted them that I would ever listen to them.  But someone made a good point that it makes the music that much better.  I don't suppose anyone could maybe send them to me through sendspace/megaupload?  Oh well, the music is the most important thing!  My favorite "Original" has to be The Outsiders or Boy In The Well.

The Itunes Originals "These Days" is pretty good, imho. So is "The Outsiders" i think. Both of those are worth the money.

Try searching for it here at Murmurs. I'm sure it had to be posted a one time or another.
