So we have a song about adolescence. A summer camp; a hypothetical, perhaps hopeful “apparition”; teenage humiliation. And this astonishing bit of advice: Nobody cares. No one remembers, and nobody cares. This is like the flip side of “Everybody Hurts”: everyone is disguising something they feel humiliated about. Everyone is too wrapped up in their own dilemmas to care about yours. That summer-camp humiliation? Forgotten. Not worth all the angst. The chorus (“Yeah you cried and you cried/He’s alive, he’s alive/Yeah you cried and you cried and you cried and you cried”) doesn’t sound uplifting based on the lyrics — at all — but it is, especially with those sweet Mike Mills vocals. We have another implication of the supernatural in that repeated “he’s alive”: is “he” Christ? The teenager’s “apparition”?

Baseball Project show in April

There's an upcoming show by the Baseball Project at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City: it's taking place April 13, 2012.
The band is to perform in the context of an exhibition of baseball cards which opened at the Met in mid January and runs through June.
The band's lineup for the occasion hasn't been announced, but the event is listed on www.stevewynn.net and Scott McCaughey has referred to it here on murmurs on elsewhere on the Internet.
City States, a band which defines itself as "Chicago art-pop", admittedly influenced by Radiohead, have just released a cover of "You Are the Everything". Listen to the song on their bandcamp page: http://citystates.bandcamp.com/
In an interview with onmilwaukee.com, Kevn Kinney of Drivin' N Cryin' has revealed a few details about their upcoming LP.

OMC: Is there another new Drivin' N Cryin' record coming down the pike soon, too?
KK: Yes, it's going be called "Songs from the Laundromat." We will be playing most of them at the show. We have a tribute song to R.E.M. which is my favorite.
